"Found this in a basement. It is about 5 feet wide and 2.5-3 feet tall. The base appears to be permanent, as it is attached firmly to the foundation. The rusted metal piece on the right is not fastened in and could be moved if it weren’t so heavy." Any ideas what is the connection between those things?

I bought a new house, and there's a small sink right in the hallway. Why would anyone install a sink in the hallway? Any ideas on how it was used in the past... I am not sure if I want to keep it or not.

"I’m helping a friend clean her house and she showed me this. It’s in the kitchen at knee level. What is it for, being that low? She thought a dog bath but #1 that would have to be a small dog and #2 not sure people had fru fru small house dogs as much a hundred years ago."
