THE OLD WOMAN WHO NEVER ASKED FOR HELP… UNTIL ONE NIGHT

Every evening, Mama Ngozi sat alone outside her small house, watching people pass by.

Everyone in the village knew her as the strong old woman who never begged anyone for anything.

One evening, a young man named Chidi walked past and greeted her.

“Good evening, Mama.”

She smiled and replied, “Good evening, my son.”

Chidi noticed that she looked tired.

“Mama, are you okay?”

She quickly smiled.

“I am fine. Go home and take care of yourself.”

Chidi continued walking.

But something didn’t feel right.

He turned around and went back.

“Mama, please tell me the truth.”

The old woman looked at him for a long moment before tears suddenly rolled down her cheeks.

“My son… I haven’t eaten since yesterday.”

Chidi was shocked.

“How come you didn’t ask anyone for help?”

Mama Ngozi wiped her tears.

“Because when you are poor, you learn to hide your suffering so people won’t look at you differently.”

Chidi immediately ran home, brought her food, and stayed with her until she finished eating.

The next morning, something unexpected happened.

Chidi discovered that Mama Ngozi had secretly been saving money for years—not for herself, but for the education of children in the village.

She had been helping poor children pay their school fees without anyone knowing.

The woman everyone thought was helpless…

had been helping everyone else in silence.

❤️ Never judge someone’s situation by what you see. Sometimes the person who needs help today is the same person who helped someone else yesterday.
