There’s a few photos circulating seemingly trying to explain away the original ad that was published. As if to say “see it’s not what you thought it was”. Honestly that was expected along with the companies apology. (See my previous post about it) Full disclosure I don’t know if this new image is the actual original or full photo. It’s not a hi quality clear pic. What I do know is without any context, explanation or prompt in any direction, I saw the ad and what I saw bothered me as it did for many who saw it the same way. Was it intentional… I’d hope not but I don’t know. But it’s incredibly annoying to see folks and random contrarians try to make it like there was no cause for alarm or attention to the ad. If you didn’t see what others saw in the way we saw it that’s cool and good for you. Perhaps you’re not jaded by prejudice and offensive racial imagery. But… I’m from the era that if you said something that sounded like or closely resembled disrespect to your parent or an elder, that elder or parent might slap taste out your mouth. Konverse deserved the slap they got.

As a kid I never imagined I would have worked as a broadcaster for as long as I have, contributing to legendary stations and brands working with some of the most amazing people one could ever encounter. On this I’d like to acknowledge some of the dopest people I’ve had the honor to work with who unfortunately are no longer here. People I still think about. People I laughed with, had great convos with, ate meals with, drank with, learned from and made history with.
