Outsiders might not understand why we treasure a moment like this. To them, it may look like an ordinary grocery trip. But they don’t see the journey behind this little moment.

The fact that you can sit up and hold your posture in the shopping cart today is an enormous stride for you—and for us. What looks small to others feels monumental to us.

To them, we’re simply grocery shopping.
To us, we’re collecting memories. 🥹🤍

Our heart said it’s ok we can raise both of you well.
Our head fills with “what ifs”.
What if your condition keeps you both awake at night and it affects your growth.
What if you two don’t get along.
What if sister outgrows you too fast, how are we going keep our heart unhurt?

What will it be like to balance two completely different worlds under one roof—one child reaching for tomorrow's milestones, while the other walks a far more fragile, complex path?

Living between these two timelines will take grace we didn't know we had. But no matter how complex the road gets, our love for you both will be bigger than these “what ifs”.

Our happiness is seeing how you could hold your head first for the first time during tummy time even though it’s when you’re 7 months old instead of 2 like average babies.

Our happiness is seeing how you start to sit with support at the age of 16 months old instead of 6.

Our happiness is seeing how you could drink from straw at the age of 18 months instead of 9.

Our happiness is seeing how you could say your first word clearly at the age of 18 months instead of 14.

We rejoice every little progress you have made. We will continue to do so. We love you, our little girl.

Unlike many parents who watch their children quickly outgrow each phase, parents of a child with special needs often feel warped in a time capsule.
Our fear is not about how fast you grow; our fear is whether you are progressing or regressing.
Our anxiety is not that you might walk and fall off the bed; our anxiety is that you might not have the strength to stand up.
Our worry is not about low math scores; our worry is that you might not be able to hold your own spoon in the years to come, or that you might not be able to tell us what you want to eat for dinner.

Time may move differently for us, but so does love. In our world, the smallest step is an entire mountain conquered.

They don’t know the tons of tear we shed wishing miracle helps you to simply be able to sit, walk, and talk as normal kid.

They don’t know the heaviness in our hearts every time you get sick.

If we can choose, we simply want you to be healthy. We do not and will never want the “hero” tag of honor. We humbly want you to be healthy and happy.

We know most nights you would wake up and smile or cry but we will do everything to give you your peaceful sleep.
