This is an Ann Dowd appreciation post!! She has made me hate Lydia and then really hate her and then kind of confused about feeling those feelings over and over. I will say that I could listen to her voice narrate every episode forever. If you feel the same way be sure to check out The Testaments audio book since she reads the Lydia part of the book along with two other very talented ladies (Bryce Dallas Howard and Mae Whitman) reading Agnes and Daisy.

Did anyone else feel the fear from watching this last episode, at the possibility on how true this could become. Being a le***an and a teacher I cried through most of it. Freeing the loss of freedom and the what if 😩.

People really need to remember that these shows are adaptations, not exact copies.

The Handmaid’s Tale only closely followed Margaret Atwood’s book in Season 1—after that, it became its own story. So it makes sense that The Testaments could also change things to work better as a continuation of the show, not just the novel.

Because of that, Daisy doesn’t have to be Nichole in the series. The writers could easily adapt her story—she could be Janine Lindo’s daughter, one of the Angel Flight kids, or someone new entirely. Nichole could still be alive somewhere else.

At this point, it’s really about what works best for the show’s story.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
