Last night we held our memorial for Anthony Van Hoorn, 25 year veteran engineer at JMM. The attendance was overwhelming, over 100 people, including his Mom, brother, other family and his audiobook family as well. We shared stories of his professionalism, integrity and excellence at his craft; both technical and interpersonal. He will be missed. Tony, you will be missed.

“Hang Loose” for proper mic placement. Using the old ‘hang loose’ dude hand gesture, insures absolutely perfect mic placement for audiobook recording. Close enough to maintain presence, but not too close to get too much breath noise. Make sure the diaphragm is pointed directly at your mouth and placing it slightly high. Make sure you can see the script underneath it.

JMM Custom Shop is looking to cast a male narrator with a deep voice for an ongoing Dan Mei (BL) series. Vocal age should be between 20-30s. Narrator must have some Mandarin pronunciation knowledge/fluency, this is a mandatory requirement due to the text. At the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, Kevin Stillwell, JMM’s VP of Independent Publishing managed to find time to get a prominent feature in Publishers Weekly! Great job, Kevin.

The global graphic novel market is getting more attention in Bologna this year, with an expanded number of exhibitors and panels dedicated to the topic.

What a treat to see in person all the fantastic narrators, clients and industry professionals that we work with all year to make such amazing books.
