As we come to the end of National Emergency Preparedness Month, Bridge Multimedia looks into the near future of emergency readiness… An AI voice sounds through a free weather-alert app:

“Heavy storms are expected later today, with possible flooding in your area.”

Within minutes, the family’s emergency plan appears on their phones, translated into Spanish for one member and read aloud for another. This scenario is a glimpse of how artificial intelligence will soon make preparedness a seamless part of daily life.

Bridge Multimedia has supported National Preparedness Month for nearly two decades through public service announcements and extensive web content development. This year, Bridge looks ahead to AI to turning preparedness from an annual reminder into a daily household habit — inclusive, affordable, and actionable.

These awards celebrate not only our production team’s efforts but also the courage of our participants who have touched millions with their personal journeys and helped reshape the public’s understanding of autism.”

Last week Bridge Multimedia’s Senior Project Director, Dr. Wendy Sapp, delivered a presentation at the 18th annual Serious Play Conference. Serious Play is North America’s largest seminar dedicated to gaming, learning, and exploring how gamification is transforming education, training, and knowledge mobilization. Dr. Sapp’s 2-hour workshop titled Accessible Games Through Universal Design demonstrated how to build accessibility into standard game play and use settings for individual customization to meet players’ specific needs.

The interactive workshop also focused on reducing or eliminating barriers that people with temporary and permanent disabilities face when gaming. Dr. Sapp discussed promising practices in inclusive game design, demonstrated accessible games currently on the market, and invited attendees to brainstorm to generate ideas for creative and engaging accessibility. Throughout the session, attendees developed a “tool kit” of concrete skills and strategies to create accessible games for players with a wide range of abilities and disabilities.

Dr. Sapp said, “Presenting this workshop was an amazing opportunity to share the knowledge and experience that Bridge has accumulated through creating accessible games that do more than just check the boxes of accessibility. The more people who understand the need for true, deep accessibility and the concrete ways to incorporate that accessibility into their games, the more opportunities there will be for all children, including those with disabilities, to learn and play.
