July 26 is the 35th anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.

The date is being commemorated with events and activities throughout the country. They include celebrations, Disability Pride events, rallies, fairs, films, marches, webinars, picnics, and more.

“The play’s the thing!” Bridge Multimedia is honored to be providing live audio description for the 78th annual Tony Awards, recognizing excellence in live Broadway theatre.

The show will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8, 2025, 8:00 – 11:00 PM (ET) on the CBS Television Network - and streaming on Paramount Plus.

According to the Tony Awards website, “The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast – the night America watches Broadway – is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television. The Tony Awards have aired on CBS since 1978.”

Bridge Multimedia’s friends and colleagues at World Institute on Disability (WID) and Infinite Access (IA) are presenting on accessible emergency communications at the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s Global Platform in Geneva.

Marcie Roth, Executive Director of WID will moderate a session titled Advancing Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction: Addressing Gaps and Strengthening Resilience. Jonathan Thurston, CEO of IA will be showcasing Infinite Access at the global forum’s Innovation Platform 2025 event.

Bridge Multimedia, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), has reached a milestone in educational media accessibility: over 7,000 episodes of educational and informational (E/I)* television for children and families have now been made accessible through audio description and captioning.

The New York Hall of Science offers free sensory sensitive playdates for neurodiverse children, ages 4-8. Every Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00.

According to the Hall of Science website, these playdates provide neurodiverse children and their families the opportunity to explore STEM learning together in a communal environment with a stronger emphasis on social interactions and play opportunities.

The winner will be announced at the virtual 2025 ACB Audio Description Awards Gala, Nov. 13th at 7:30 PM ET. (Bridge will be providing ASL again, this year).

The American Foundation for the Blind’s website recently posted a useful review of the iPhone 16e https://afb.org/blog/entry/iphone-16e-overview. It’s an in-depth overview of the device and its AI features, from the perspective of a blind iPhone user. The article covers topics including the iPhone’s cost, AI components, satellite connectivity, action button, battery life, and more. The AFB site is loaded with helpful information so check out some of the good content while you’re there.
