July 26 is the 35th anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.

The date is being commemorated with events and activities throughout the country. They include celebrations, Disability Pride events, rallies, fairs, films, marches, webinars, picnics, and more.

“The play’s the thing!” Bridge Multimedia is honored to be providing live audio description for the 78th annual Tony Awards, recognizing excellence in live Broadway theatre.

The show will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8, 2025, 8:00 – 11:00 PM (ET) on the CBS Television Network - and streaming on Paramount Plus.

According to the Tony Awards website, “The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast – the night America watches Broadway – is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television. The Tony Awards have aired on CBS since 1978.”

Marcie Roth, Executive Director of WID will moderate a session titled Advancing Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction: Addressing Gaps and Strengthening Resilience. Jonathan Thurston, CEO of IA will be showcasing Infinite Access at the global forum’s Innovation Platform 2025 event.

In that spirit, we’re giving a shout out to our friends at Epic Players, a neuro-diverse theater troupe. Their website states, “Our differences are our strengths. A more open stage connects artists and audiences to more representation, more inspiration, and more opportunities.”

Bridge Multimedia is happy to promote the 2025 American Council of the Blind (ACB) People’s Choice Awards for Audio Description, which is accepting nominations from April 12 to 27. The winner will be announced at the virtual 2025 ACB Audio Description Awards Gala, Nov. 13th at 7:30 PM ET. (Bridge will be providing ASL again, this year).

According to the ACB website, “The Audio Description Awards Gala celebrates inclusivity and recognizes the entertainment industry’s role in providing access to film and television through audio description for people who are blind or have low vision. The Audio Description People’s Choice Award is a unique opportunity for fans to get involved by showing their support for the audio description they love the most.”
