We have gotten great feedback on our opening show, which was Agatha Christie's "The Patient" and Susan Charlotte's "The Pirates" starring Tony Award winner RIchard Easton and Lisa Bostnar, directed by Antony Marsellis.
In SIX DAYS we have our second Food For Thought show. The date is Thursday, April 4th. The play is Anthony Minghella's Cigarette's and Chocolate, which deals with sacrifices and what one character gives up for Lent. The season has just begun so there is still time to reserve.
You can EMAIL [email protected] or call 646-366-9340 to make reservations for our shows and seminars. Seating is limited so call or email right away. Also, ask about our latest discounts.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Monday, April 8th and Wednesday, April 10th--Tony Nominee Penny Fuller stars in Part One and Part Two of A Cheever Evening by Pulitzer Prize nominee A.R. Gurney, who adapted the work of Pulitzer Prize winner John Cheever, "the master chronicler of American's post war angst and alienation." Directed by Antony Marsellis this two part play is both poignant and entertaining.
Monday, April 22nd--Ricky Aiello (son of Oscar-Nominee Danny Aiello) stars in Real to Reel by Pulitzer-Prize winning writer Frank Gilroy.
This fast-paced witty one-act, filled with suspense, revolves around a leading man whose new film (which he also directed and produced), is opening the next day and a leading film critic, who has just been mugged. This very sexy actor happens to pass by the scene of the crime
and escorts this very shaken, yet still tough critic to her apartment. He wants a great review once his film is released; she wants to be wanted. The stakes are high as they spar with each other verbally, each seduced by the other's power.
Wednesday, May 1st--Tony Nominees Tony Roberts and Penny Fuller star in the wickedly funny, The Lover by Nobel Prize winner Harold Pinter. The play revolves around marriage, fantasies and game playing.
Thursday, May 9th --Two time Tony-Award winner, Frances Sternhagen, will be performing in For Whom The Southern Bell Tolls. This hilarious satire on Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie was written by Tony-Nominee Christopher Durang. Who else! You may have seen Durang's take on Chekov at Lincoln Center--Vania and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Now you can see his spin on Williams at Food For Thought!
Thursday, May 23rd--Tony Nominees Bob Dishy and Zach Grenier along with Judy Graubart star in two plays by Oscar nominated writer Murray Schisgal (for the movie, Tootsie). Join us for this hilarious two-hander, "The Man Who Couldn't Stop Crying and the premiere of Death, Thou Shalt Die! and you'll have a chance to speak to the actors and writer Schisgal during the Q & A.
Wednesday, June 5th-- Tony Award winner Fritz Weaver stars in The Real Thing by Henry James, adapted by Susan Charlotte. James explores the many shades of reality and shows us that sometimes imitation seems more real than the real thing. A truly thought-provoking work.
Also, we have a fabulous new website with pictures of celebrities who have been part of Food For Thought -- both on stage and off: Danny Aiello, Christine Baranski, Anne Jackson, Judith Light, Steve Martin, Liza Minnelli, Joyce Carol Oates, Rosie Perez, Vanessa Redgrave, Kyra Sedgwick, Marian Seldes, Elaine Stritch, and Eli Wallach.
