Burberry Christmas 2018 Campaign

Tis the season, and we are reminded of Burberry's holiday campaign from last year — “Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas.” Set to the soundtrack of ‘Carol of the Bells,’ the campaign explores holiday traditions and seasonal moments through a uniquely individualized and personal lens. From capturing the fickle weather to monotonous train rides, holiday togetherness, and elaborate Christmas feasts, the campaign gives festive traditions the designer treatment. Additionally, it stars MIA, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Matt Smith, while Naomi Campbell is photographed with her mother, Valerie Morris-Campbell, in a wholesome yet absolutely iconic moment. Joy to the world!

The Hornet's Nest (SPS86) by William G. Harbinson

🐝🐝🐝🐝
William G. Harbinson’s “The Hornet’s Nest” will transport your ensemble to Patriot-held Charlotte, North Carolina during the American Revolutionary War.

When Lord Charles Cornwallis failed to take this strong-willed city, he went on to call it “a hornet’s nest of rebellion.” This exciting piece for grade 4 bands is a great opportunity for more advanced groups to focus on stylistic playing between the bright and triumphant theme and quieter larghetto passage.

Women at the Piano (PL1059) ed. Nicholas Hopkins

𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒐 sheds light on the unheard music and untold story of female composers of the nineteenth century, offering not only pristine editions of neglected and forgotten musical works, but also insights into the historical context and the prejudicial environments in spite of which these remarkable pieces emerged. With selections from Clara Wieck-Schumann, Maria Wołowska-Szymanowska, Helene Riese-Liebmann, Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel and many others, this edition is a worthy entry into the concert pianist’s canonical library.

Rejoice East and West (FAS115) arr. Deborah Baker Monday

Every holiday concert needs a fresh take on an old favorite! How about two?

Deborah Baker Monday’s “Rejoice, East and West” for Grade 1½ orchestras couples two of the most popular holiday pieces, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and “Joy to the World.” Pairing the historically Middle Eastern modal character of “O Come,” and one of the most published Christmas hymns in North America creates a blend of influences celebrating the unifying spirit of Christmas.

Educational opportunities abound in this arrangement featuring dynamic contrast, tempo changes, slurs, and ties.

GOT A PROBLEM? THE ORCHESTRA DOCTOR IS IN! 🎻👨‍⚕️
Does your ensemble's intonation fall flat? Is there a mutiny brewing in the violas? Lost your rhythm mojo? Send us your questions, and life-long educator Todd Parrish will answer.

Today's Teaching Tip:
Always teach the technique before students encounter it in the music. Before the music ever hits students' stands, teachers should introduce the notes and rhythms ahead of time, through method books, scale studies, and exercises.

Lamplight Village for Concert Band

Chris Campbell’s Lamplight Village for Concert Band (Grade 2) evokes the peacefulness and coziness of a fantasy-setting village in mid-evening. A stroll down lamp-lit lanes with glimpses into family rooms, taverns, stables, and inns imparts a comfortable, dreamy atmosphere, with the sounds and smells of a small hamlet winding down for the night. This piece provides the opportunity to work with your students on tone, phrasing, and intonation while improving their musicianship overall. Great for concert or festival, this unique and gentle piece will give your young band a rich and mature sound.

Arachnid's Lair by Kirt Mosier

Though perfect for Halloween, "Arachnid’s Lair" for String Orchestra (Grade 3) can be performed any time of year. The dark, subtle introduction with molto crescendos and decrescendos hint of a sinister plan by an arachnid to catch its prey. Dissonant harmonies and tempo changes add to the movement on the spider’s web. A brief, but hauntingly beautiful viola solo is offered in the middle section before the final buildup to an exciting climax. The interesting and dramatic sounds of this work will not only teach students new techniques, but it will also motivate them to explore the limits of dynamics and articulations on their instruments.

What the heck is going on with www.carlfischer.com?
Will you please post when your site is back up?
On Sunday at 6pm, I will give a lecture - recital at Jacksonville University on Howard Hanson's "Symphonic Rhapsody" which I discovered in manuscript in 2016. Carl Fischer Music subsequently published my edition of the work in 2017. My event will be live streamed to Hanson's hometown of Wahoo, Nebraska and to the Eastman School of Music and to the University of the Pacific. The date is significant: it's the 100th anniversary of the work's first performance given by the composer, October 27, 1919, College of the Pacific, San Jose, California.
Please respond to my messages regarding creating my account on your website. Despite multiple attempts, I am not receiving the confirmation email to move forward with downloading the MP3’s included with the book (Tales of Land and Sea). I have also messaged Brilee music with no response. I have checked my junk and spam folders. Thank you.
Found this in an old box. Just one sheet front and back. No. 9, 10, 11 and 12. Dated 1844. For violins. Can you tell me anymore about this and if you would like to have this sheet. It's in bad shape. My grandfather was a fiddler and also played cornet, banjo, guitar. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.
Larry Clarkhas apologized for his use of a female Japanese pseudonym while working with CF. Will Carl Fischer Music also apologize for being complicit with this? Finish the work that was sloppily done to change the credit line back to Clark (it is still incorrect on every preview on JW Pepper) Or make efforts to amend the mistake by lifting up women and people of color??
Are the IT people still working on both sites? (Carl Fischer and Brilee). We are having a really difficult time getting the pages to load.
Hi, Is anyone else having a service issue for this (and Brilee) website? We keep getting a Server Error message when trying to shop for music.
I know it's a long shot, but do you know what this piece is? I only have this page left. It was purchased in the early 90s.
Thanks for publishing The First complete Weissenborn. I'm sorry it wasn't published as spiral bound.
Tengo una mandolina que lleva impreso una etiqueta que indica carl fischer's.
Can someone help me download the mp3 tracks that go along with the George Vance Repertoire for Double Bass volume 1? I have tried the directions in the book to no avail.
