I'm doing a "class" in playing the music of Grateful Dead (and others) in my Harlem studio weds 8pm -
This is for beginners and intermediate players and singers who would like to play in a band situation - learn by playing with others - learn "how" to be in a band,
If you've always wanted to try singing with a band or maybe you want to practice soloing and improvising with a live band - YouTube will only get you so far - playing with other humans is the best.
I have amps and drum kit - backline
It's $60 bucks - which is just a little more then you'd pay at a hourly practice place.

I want to thank everyone that came out to the inaugural jam class where we use the music of the Grateful Dead to improve our abilities to improvise and perform in a live band setting

Suggested donation is $60 per person

All you need to bring is drumsticks or your guitar and a cable - I have a full drum kit and amplifiers.

We’re going to start with a few easy songs -

And Bertha
I will have a chord chart for everything
And we will add additional songs for next week.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of the great Steve Albini. He was one of the most interesting and intelligent people I’ve ever met.
He was always very kind to me, and very forthcoming with his knowledge
I considered him kind of a mentor
He kindly referred me for a gig in LA a few months ago. I was so jazzed I showed the text to my friends.

He was my hero.

“Party Girl” This guitar means a lot to me. It’s a 1990 Strat plus. I bought on time from Jimmy on magazine street in New Orleans. I played it all over town. I even loaned it to Snooks Eaglin one night. Took it to LA and almost lost it to a pawn shop. My dad bought it back. Probably the nicest thing he’s ever done for me.
Then when I was in sober living with Shannon Hoon he added the party girl sticker without asking me. A year later when I had my first studio gig in Burbank I was working on a John Mayall record as an assistant engineer, and Mavis staples came in so I had her sign it. A few years later scott weiland threw up on it. At some point i retired her. But recently I decided to put her back into rotation. This time reimagined as a Eddie Van Halen E flat metal only guitar. Why? I’m finally having my Eddie phase.
