18-year-old armless archer Sheetal Devi won the gold medal in the compound open final at the Khelo India Para Games, defeating 17-year-old quadruple amputee Payal Nag. Sheetal, who uses her feet to shoot, overcame strong competition from Payal, who shoots with prosthetic legs. Despite Payal's strong start, Sheetal's steady performance led her to a 109-103 victory.
For Sheetal, this gold medal was a dream come true. "Winning gold at the Khelo India Para Games is a dream," she said. Payal, though narrowly missing out, showed incredible resilience and determination, adapting her technique and equipment to continue improving.
The Games highlighted the strength and perseverance of India’s para-athletes, with both Sheetal and Payal leading the charge. Their performances remind us that true strength comes from courage, not physical ability.
Sheetal and Payal show us that true victory lies in the will to keep going, no matter the obstacles. Read more in the comments below
