Google shows off stunning new AR features coming to web and mobile apps soon

Think of #occlusion as 'object hiding technology.' By having #AugmentedReality objects that can be placed behind or in-between physical objects, #AR experiences will feel more believable. If occlusion weren't awesome enough, Google's Depth API also features better object physics and 3D mapping abilities!

This announcement is a big win for our subsidiary companies creating AR experiences. Developers at Mezmos, our company producing VR/AR marketing experiences, and QReal, our subsidiary making lifelike 3D models, are excited about this update! The new Depth API will make AR even more seamless with the real world.

👋 Hand Tracking can make #VirtualReality feel more immersive and intuitive. Glimpse Group developers are definitely excited about this Oculus headset update!

How does #VR #HandTracking work? The Verge reports that, "Oculus is able to incorporate your hands in VR on the Quest without needing anything but the Touch controllers, thanks to the headset’s inside-out tracking a system, a set of built-in cameras and sensors that identify where your body and hands are in a virtual space in relationship to the headset."

It’s the only commercial headset that can recognize your hands.

VR/AR Case Competition with MBA Students

Thank you to the MBA students from Columbia University, New York University, and Fordham University for participating in a case competition about The Glimpse Group!

Students had 3 weeks to research the #VR and #AR market and to answer the following prompts:
🔹 Which city should Glimpse choose for a new Hub?
🔹 How should Glimpse allocate capital to the 10 subsidiary companies under its umbrella?
🔹 How would Glimpse attract new potential portfolio companies?
🔹 What's the next big industry/technology Glimpse should focus on?

Representatives from Google, Ernst & Young, LLP, monday.com, PwC, ZT Corporate, MarTechApe, sponsored or judged the competition. The winning team suggested the next Glimpse hub should be in Boston, MA, and they advised Glimpse to invest in an #augmentedreality makeup company.
