The Most Anticipated Movies of 2018

"The irresistible combination of director Claire Denis and sci-fi in a story about a group of convicts on a no-return exploration into space is already exciting enough. Add an intriguing cast headed by Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche, plus Icelandic-Danish sculptor Olafur Eliasson’s designs for the black hole, and cinephile’s expectations for Denis’ first English-language film are literally sky-high."

Variety polled its international team of critics, asking which films they were most looking forward to in the coming year. The results are diverse, ranging from likely blockbusters to potential Pal…

Dear Mr. Guggenheim: Query: EXPOSURE, feature screenplay I am seeking representation for the spec script of EXPOSURE, an historical thriller about an attempt to blackmail FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover in 1928. Al Ruben is a family man who agrees to photograph “someone” who will be staying in an Atlantic City hotel suite during gala Decoration Day ceremonies. As payment, Al and his wife, Ida, are given a lease on an entertainment pier, where they ready a souvenir photo shop for a Decoration Day opening. At the hotel, Al's target is revealed as the famous law man. Al is discovered, barely escapes. Enraged Hoover and his minions come after Al and his sponsors, city Boss Nucky Johnson and crooked gambler Sam Brodsky. Hoover desperately wants the undeveloped film in Al’s camera. In the final scene, Hoover agrees to an ingenious alternative. Before the credits roll, scrolling text explains that Hoover refused to investigate organized crime during his 48 years as FBI Director. I have self-published four novels. Two others are represented by a literary agent who does not handle screenplays. EXPOSURE is an adaptation of my novel, LOW LIGHT. If you are interested in evaluating EXPOSURE, I will send you an fdx. or pdf. of the 100-page spec script. I am sending this query simultaneously to several agencies on April 26, 2019. EXPOSURE’s author: Stanley Cutler, contact: [email protected]
Dear Mr. Guggenheim: Query: SABOTAGE, a mini-series I am seeking representation for a treatment and pilot script of a mini-series about a detective who foils a Nazi plot to sabotage a new American battleship in 1944. DAVE LEVITAN is an Atlantic City police detective. He investigates the murder of an Army recruit killed with an unusual bullet on the 4th of July, 1944. JOHN BRIXTON of the FBI joins forces with Dave when the bullet is determined to be German. Intermittent scenes of a battleship docked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard foreshadow the high stakes of the final episode. Dave unravels the clues leading to a Nazi spy cell. He is captured by them but escapes just in time to warn the Coast Guard and defend against the ingenious plan - cripple the battleship Wisconsin and block a vital supply line during the ship’s passage down the Delaware to begin her first combat cruise. The pilot episode focuses on the murder, revealing Dave as a troubled man in love with a gifted pianist, HELEN. He is at odds with his ACPD colleagues. He is angry that an ankle injury incurred in the Spanish Civil War makes him ineligible for service. In later episodes, the FBI Director, considering him “subversive”, kicks him off the case. He gains the trust of senior brass in the Navy and Coast Guard, solves the crime in spite of the obstacles, and gets the Coast Guard to save the day in spectacular fashion. I have self-published four novels. Two others are represented by a literary agent who does not handle screenplays. SABOTAGE is an adaptation of my novel, THE SUBVERSIVE DETECTIVE. If you are interested in evaluating the mini-series’ potential, I will send you an fdx. or pdf. of the pilot spec script and a more detailed treatment. I am sending this query simultaneously to several agencies April 26, 2019. PLEASE Contact me via [email protected]
