Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers received the Lifetime Achievement Award at tonightβs Americana Music Awards in Nashville, and surviving original members Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Stan Lynch, and Ron Blair reunited to perform with country star Chris Stapleton.
It was drummer Lynchβs first time playing with the Heartbreakers since they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 24 years ago. Two more Heartbreakers, Steve Ferrone and Scott Thurston, joined the band onstage at the Ryman for a final song.
Today, the Tom Petty estate also announced βOrigins 1971-1978,β a 50th anniversary box set thatβll include previously unreleased tracks from the late rock legendβs earliest days. One such song, βParade Of Loons,β is out now, and the full set comes Nov. 6 via UMe.
