I found this

I found this when replacing a dimmer switch. I removed the copper from the white and now the lights don’t turn on.

Does that mean the white wires are broken or not connected somewhere? The red nut on the left has 4 white wires, (1 from the yellow nut).

How do I find the problem area?

Looking for feedback on my 90s with kicks into a panel.

One piece of 3/4″ EMT and three pieces of 1″ EMT all needed the same kick distance from the rack to the panel. I assumed I could just make the same bend four times since the kick distance was identical, but the 1″ conduit ended up running into the 3/4″. I eventually moved my kick mark on the 1″ back by a half inch which helped.

Is it normal for the spacing to get really tight in the middle of the kicks? I was hoping the 3/4" spacing between conduits would stay consistent through the bend, but everything compresses in the middle and then opens back up.

Also, if anyone has tips, tricks, or little secrets for keeping spacing clean through these kicks or for matching 3/4″ and 1″ bends more consistently, I’d appreciate the advice.

Can anyone identify this wire? Having issues with Water heater

Long story short:

I’m having issues with my electric water heater blowing fuses and getting hot. Just had the unit installed today, it was connected to two 15 amp time delayed fuses. They were both hot 115F or 56C the company that installed the water heater recommended switching to two 20 amp fuses. Switched to two 20 amp time delayed fuses and they basically got right up to the same temp and I could hear a noise from the panel. I should also mention that they did not have a licensed electrician onsite.

This is an older home with aluminum wire, I believe that’s wire the old aluminum goes into the junction box and they spliced in a piece of copper MC to the heater.

My main question is can anyone identify the wire pictured? Is it rated for 20 amps? Thinking of just getting a new home run ran from the panel.

Located in Ontario Canada

I’ll greatly appreciate any advice or recommendations!

Sauna wiring help

Hey everyone. Recently finished a new construction and had the electrician run a 10 gauge wire for an indoor sauna (Harvia KIP 6kW). The electrician ran the wire to a junction box and set it up 4 prong receptacle outlet. The electrician recommended hooking up the sauna via a plug connected to a 10 gauge wire (run from outlet to heater would be about 12-15 ft). Was planning on picking up some 10 gauge wire and a plug and hooking this up. Seeing if there's any other suggestions or concerns prior to going this route.

Is this right?

Adding a ceiling light and switch to existing run of outlets. The junction already had connection going from first outlet box to junction box and splitting to next room and then continuing to rest of outlets in room.

Zapped with 120

I got zapped with 120 today, electrician had a switch and the murrette was off on the hot. I brushed up against the wire and heard a pop, sparks flew and it burned a hole through my hoodie, t shirt and skin. Didn't feel it go through my chest. Arm felt funny for a bit but went away. Last time I got zapped I completed t he circuit and it went through my chest, called 811( its a phone in nurse triage service here, they advise whether or not to go to ER. and they were like get to the ER now! Offered to call me an ambulance. went to urgent care and they didnt even do a ekg, just said dont do that again... felt like I wasted the doctors time. But of course now I'm reading about it and I'm a little freaked out! Feel like the burn .makes it a little more serious? it was my right arm.
