Being More Than a Disability in a TV Show/Movie

As the entertainment industry becomes more inclusive, one major group of people tend to be left out of the conversation. #HCNYU's Priyanka speaks on the problematic ways the entertainment industry has portrayed people with disabilities.

Representation is something that people have been fighting for over the years, as they push for more diverse roles to appear in TV shows

Meet our next Senior Feature, Supriya Lal, one of our awesome contributing writers!

Supriya is graduating in May and has a double major in Global Public Health and Nutrition with a minor in Social and Public Policy. Originally Canadian, Supriya was raised in Greenwood, South Carolina. After graduation, she will be moving to Durnham, North Carolina for a year where she will be working as a registered dietitian at Duke University Hospital and then will be moving back to New York City in 2020 to complete her Master of Public Health at NYU.
Here's what Supriya wants to say to underclassmen about enjoying your time in college: "Get involved! Whether it's joining clubs, going to office hours, or participating in class--this is the best way to branch out, meet new people, and be engaged in student life."
We wish you all the best, Supriya and we will miss you! 💖 🎉 🎊

Next up on our Senior Features we have one of our amazing contributing writers, Emma Djordjevic!

A Chicago native, Emma is a senior studying Media, Culture, and Communication and Philosophy and will be graduating this May. Although she doesn't know whether she will stay in New York after graduation, Emma hopes to travel and continue her writing and language studies.
Here's the advice Emma had to give about trusting one's instincts: " Trust yourself. It can be really hard to trust that voice inside you that guides you most days but it can be really beneficial. If you don't like something (i.e. your major, friends, job, etc) or if you're extremely passionate about something, etc, trust yourself and share that voice with others."
We are so proud of you, Emma and we can't wait to see what the future holds for you! 🎊 💖 🎉

Our first Senior Feature of the week is Her Campus NYU's Social Media Director, Pranati Wadhawan!

Pranati is graduating this May with a degree in Media, Culture, and Communication from the Steinhardt School. She is originally from Mumbai, India but has spent the last four years creating a home for herself here in New York City. After graduation, Pranati will be staying in New York where she will be working for Viacom. In her free time, Pranati will be spending her time applying for grad school, traveling, and continuing her quest to find the best coffee in NYC!
Here's what Pranati has to say to underclassmen trying to find their way: "Don't feel inhibited - do everything you think you want to do. Chances are you'll find something great out of it. Life's too short to not do everything you want."
We wish you all the best, Pranati and congratulations!! 💖 🎉 🎉

Next up in our Senior Features we have Grace Moon, our Editor-in-Chief!

Grace was raised in Dallas, Texas but considers Seoul, South Korea to be her home. At NYU, Grace double majored in Print Journalism and Media, Culture, and Communication. After she graduates, Grace will be heading to Seoul, where she will be spending a year as a Princeton-in-Asia Roxe Media Fellow at the National Democratic Institute, where she will be working with North Korea affairs. She is so excited to live in her motherland and hopes to perfect her Korean, cook with her grandmother, and freelance as a writer.

Here is what Grace would tell herself if she could rewind back to the beginning of college: "Make time for passion projects, because sometimes they can be much more rewarding than working a 9-5 internship. Sure, you may have to make some sacrifices when it comes to hustling and making money on the side, but it's doable. During my sophomore year, I took the summer off to learn Korean because I wanted to report on the elderly, Korean populations in New York. I had to work odd jobs to live in the city - delivering Postmates, waking up at the crack of dawn to make bread at a bakery and working an evening hostess job. Every minute was worth it though, and I learned how to get by and be more resourceful. I continued to build my Korean skills after that summer and can't wait to apply them when I'm working in Seoul this upcoming August."

We are so proud of you, Grace and we will miss you! 🎊💖🎉

In the spirit of Senior Week, we will be featuring Her Campus NYU's graduation seniors and first up is Line Talla, a contributing writer and our Assistant Social Media Director!

Line recently graduated in January 2019 from Steinhardt and majored in Media, Culture, and Communication. Although born in Yaounde, Cameroon, her family currently resides in Antananarivo, Madagascar. She is still on the job hunt but hopes to stay in New York for a year and work in the media and publishing fields before going to grad school! When she's not applying for jobs, you can find Line working on a few creative writing passion projects that she's been really excited about.
We asked Line if there was any piece of advice she'd like to give her fellow underclassmen and this is what she said: "If you are interested in something, do everything you can to explore that interest/curiosity. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone; it may feel scary at first but just know that no matter what, you will be fine. Work on passion projects, do things that don't necessarily have anything to do with school. Enjoy yourself. School will be overwhelming but make sure to surround yourself with a great support system and make time for self care!! You're young, full of energy, and your future is bright. Never forget that."
Congratulations, Line and we wish you all the best!! 💕 🎉 🎊
