“None of us can be liberated if other groups are not.”

“Once we give up searching for approval we often find it easier to earn respect.”

“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all is a form of planning.”

Lauren Henderson’s 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐘 is an intimate and cinematic exploration of love in all its shades—passion, longing, resilience, spirituality, self-discovery, and liberation.

Blending jazz, soul, folk, gospel textures, and Afro-Latin influences, 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐘 unfolds like a late-night film soundtrack, inviting listeners into moonlit landscapes filled with vulnerability, warmth, nostalgia, and hope.

Featuring celebrated collaborators including Sullivan Fortner, Dezron Douglas, Joe Dyson, Kenny Banks Jr., Nick Tannura, and Jonathan Michel, the album pairs original compositions with reimagined standards to create Henderson’s most cohesive and emotionally expansive work to date.

From the sensual longing of “Moonlight” and “Burgundy,” to the boundless devotion of “Limit,” the spiritual uplift of “Inspira,” the introspection of “Landslide,” and the liberation found in “Orillas,” every song becomes another shade within the rich emotional palette of the album.

𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐘 celebrates the beauty of embracing life’s many seasons and reminds listeners that love—whether romantic, spiritual, familial, or self-directed—continues to evolve, deepen, and inspire.
