The Ozark Highballers are a three to four piece string band from Fayetteville, Arkansas who have been bringing their music to square dances, farmers markets, festivals, workshops, plain ol’ street corners and front porches since 2014. With music that reflects the spirit and drive of the rural Ozark string bands of the 1920s and '30s, this old-fashioned ensemble features the dynamic melody duo of Roy Pilgrim on fiddle and Seth Shumate on harmonica, accompanied by the intricate string tickling of Clarke Buehling on five-string banjo, and the driving chords and bass runs of Aviva Steigmeyer on guitar.

Catch ‘em once.. twice.. or more on this year’s Oldtone stage starting Thursday, September 10th! Get yer tickets today over at: Oldtone.org/tickets

We’re proud to share the new single, “Tell Old Bill,” his take on the traditional song. You might have heard versions of this song by Bob Dylan, Joni, Roger McGuinn, or Van Ronk himself, but we think Feral’s is the definitive rendition. This folk song first appeared widely via the 1927 book “The American Songbag,” compiled by poet Carl Sandburg. shared the single, saying, “Feral Foster does have a little of Van Ronk about him, and that’s no bad thing either since it implies what? That Foster really inhabits the song and delivers it with an unflinching gusto.”

This clip is from a recent live show - head over to and take a listen to the single off the record with drums! Pre-order your vinyl as it’s a short run!
