Perspective | Why parents — especially new parents — need to nurture their friendships

“When two women who care about each other get together face-to-face and interact, oxytocin starts flowing through both of their bodies, which not only increases empathy and fond feelings for each other but also counters stress and could be thought of as basically an anti-inflammatory," Molly Millwood, Ph.D., author of TO HAVE AND TO HOLD (on sale now HarperCollins), tells the Washington Post.

The specifics may differ for introverts and extroverts, but everyone benefits from social connections in those exhausting early years.

This message from the incredible Hannah Bronfman was too important to not share!

History with Hannah!

"I want to share something I learned about recently that helped me understand why and how voter suppression is as bad as it is right now. If we can get a handle on these systems, we can outsmart them. Systems are made up of people and guess what?! We have the power to vote them OUT! So if you learned something in this video, SHARE it, and make sure you're registered to take action by VOTING! And fill out your census!"

de Porres

In honor of Juneteenth we’re excited to highlight de Porres, a Los Angeles based, traveling dinner series by Pablo Osorio and Danielle Bell. de Porres is pure, creative decadence rooted in culinary history and culture—savory dishes are inspired by Pablo’s native Peru while desserts are drawn from Danielle’s roots in the American South. Every year, Pablo and Danielle create a special menu in honor of Juneteenth, but in lieu of a physical shared meal, this year’s menu will be delivered. To learn more about the team’s mission (and what “guests” can expect on this year’s menu!), check out their site and give them a follow to find out what they’re cooking up next.

Dear Dr laundry. I just finished watching your show on network special. Thanks to you I am ordering the whole package. I too have been grasping every medical concept to get healthy again. My short story. Is I was finishing my RN at the hospital when I had a terrible accident. That caused me to have 3 neck surgeries and steroids injections. All to my dismay didn't work. My neck now consists of artificial screws which hold my neck in place. Now prior to my accident I must tell u I was running 5 Mile's a day. Working at the hospital full-time and going to school. I felt like I was 20 but I was 49 but at age 51 after my accident I felt like 90. After all my surgeries which u know as well as I they can't regenerate nerves last year I thought I'd try to run again very scared and talking it slow I began it took me 2 years to lose the 46 lbs that I had gained. My health actually did improve my Dr was so pleased I was happier I looked better . U are awesome.
