At Elan in Oslo, Snøhetta turns the ritual of coffee into an immersive study of material and atmosphere. Deep timber, sculpted Corkinho surfaces and a luminous green ceiling shape an interior that feels almost subterranean—softened by curved forms, low light and moments of precise reflection.

Designed around curiosity and the choreography of everyday rituals, the space moves between intimacy and monumentality, allowing texture, shadow and material depth to do much of the storytelling.

In Shanghai, Yeyeland turns mineral collecting into an immersive retail and culinary landscape. Designed by STUDIO 4/301, the 240-square-metre concept store draws on the language of geological excavation: monumental rock-like formations appear to break through the interior, while translucent fibreglass, resin, stainless steel and glass shift between the raw and the precisely engineered.

Real mineral specimens are embedded into the architecture itself—from fluorite, obsidian and quartz preserved beneath the resin floor to crystalline forms displayed against softly illuminated surfaces. Beyond the retail space, mineral-inspired desserts extend the concept into something edible, turning geology into an experience of material, light, texture and taste.

Inventive rather than precious, the home of ashleylawl, founder of Flawk, turns everyday details into moments of wit. Oak cabinetry is cut with graphic motifs, a stainless-steel backsplash becomes a sweeping silhouette, linen curtains are treated almost like garments, and even switches and stair rails become opportunities for intervention.

The result is playful without excess—a home where craft, improvisation and personality matter more than convention.

In a 60-square-metre apartment, Alla Kunitsa builds intimacy through accumulation rather than excess. Deep chocolate walls become a backdrop for copper, velvet, timber and woven textiles, while vintage finds and personal objects give each room the character of something assembled slowly over time.

Unexpected gestures carry the interior: a ceiling crowded with tasseled shades, a changing copper cabinet, mismatched 1950s chairs and an alphabet installation rising overhead. Rich, eccentric and deeply personal, the apartment feels less decorated than collected.

Warm timber volumes organize the plan while sculptural furniture and lighting introduce moments of experimentation—each object given space to register against an otherwise restrained architectural framework.

The result is quietly rigorous: material, light and proportion doing the work, with the surrounding greenery becoming part of the composition.
