Happy January! Hope you're all still trucking along just like we are despite the cold!
So far we've had a few interesting artists in the studio including Quentin Jennings, a Brit who’s been making music in New York for two decades who finally decided to put his own songs forward after many years of realizing others' music.
He was a member of The Dylans from Sheffield, UK. On arriving in NY, he toured the US with Christian Gibbs, then signed to Atlantic Records. After that, he became the keyboard-player for NY band Melomane for 10 years, touring the US and Europe.

“I’ve had a bunch of tunes following me around like lost dogs for a while now and the time came to record them. You don’t really know if a song’s real, whether they’ll survive outside the vacuum of your head, until other people play it in a room with you.”

With the collaboration of longtime friends, some of the finest players NY has to offer, 11 songs were put down in one session.

Dan Menke – drums
Christian Bongers – bass
Cameron Alexander – guitar
Gerald Menke – pedal steel
Andrew Thomas - trumpet
Quentin Jennings – guitar, piano, organ, vocals

We're really excited to hear the final product and to share with you all the other incredible work that's been coming through the studio since!

Clint Bahr was voted 11th best electric bass player in the world by Progressive Edge Magazine.

Can't wait to have him back in again!

Been a busy month at Pyramid! Pictured below is Rick Frank and assistant manager, Vanessa from Jambalaya Brass Band listening to mixes in the studio!
Want to know what they sound like? We'll let you know when they release their new tunes! It's a combination of Cuban and 2nd line rhythms with melodic line full of jazz, funk, and New Orleans flavors.

Demir Demirkan and #PhilGaldston also came through the studio recording guitar dubs for his new EP!

Jackie Kamel was also here laying down a couple new tracks for her upcoming project.

Interested? We are always accepting new artists here at Pyramid! Share with your friends!

Last week was a mini Jazz fest at Pyramid. We had in the Jambalaya Brass Band in the studio. They're a great New York staple representing New Orleans brass band tradition with modern, colorful flavors. They've recorded for Where The Wild Things are, SoCo commercials, and multiple parties, benefits, festivals, and half time shows. We were excited to have them in the studio, and can't wait to see what else they do from here. Photo Credit: Janet Castiel

This past month has been hotter inside than out! We've had a number of great musicians in the studio. First up was famed musician Troy Miller (Jocelyn Brown, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Laura Mvula) who stopped in while touring with UK Songstress, Laura Mvula on her "Sing to the Moon" tour with engineer Ted Tuttle!
We also had up and coming singer/songwriter Raphaelle in the studio working on a few new songs to surprise us with, featuring talented NYC musicians Tony Tino and Jimi K Bones.
Grammy award winning Keyon Harrold (Beyonce, Common, Erica Badu, Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z) was also in the studio laying down some vocals with us.
This just names a few of the extremely talented acts we've had in this past month alone. If you want to be apart of the madness, don't hesitate to contact us! And keep a look out for these great artists as they continue to produce incredible sounds.
