A must read for anyone who cares about music. The fire, the coverup, the cost, the impact, and where we go from here.
It was the biggest disaster in the history of the music business — and almost nobody knew. This is the story of the 2008 Universal fire.

WOODY GUTHRIE ALL- STAR TRIBUTE CONCERT 1970
Premieres March 2019 on PBS
An All-Star Tribute From 1970 Featuring Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Country Joe McDonald, Odetta, Richie Havens, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Peter Fonda, Will Geer and More! See It For The First Time Ever On PBS!
The Woody Guthrie All Star Tribute at the Hollywood Bowl in 1970 celebrated the work of America's greatest folk singer. Woody's son, Arlo Guthrie, is joined by Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Country Joe McDonald, Odetta, Richie Havens, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and others in this historic tribute concert, which was hosted by Peter Fonda and Will Geer. House band includes members of Linda Ronstadt's band Swampwater and Ry Cooder.
Although filmed in 1970, the footage was missing and un-edited until a few months ago when Nora Guthrie was able to track down and acquire this long-lost, raw concert film footage. After transfering the unedited footage, Nora brought in producer 4-Time Emmy Award winner Jim Brown and multiple GRAMMY Award winner, producer Steve Rosenthal, to create this tremendous concert experience. Mixed by the always briliant Kabir Hermon and Chris Shurtleff.
Watch me Babble about one of my favorite Eventide effects boxes

Blondie is joining forces with Numero Group to release a new "Heart of Glass" deluxe 12" EP with six alternate versions of the song.
Last night we lost an irreplaceble part of the Magic Shop family. My good friend, producer/guitarist, East Village Icon, Jimi Zhivago passed. Through the years at the studio and The Living Room as well, he was the link to the music we loved and the New York City we wanted to live in. There are too many stories, too many calls, too many texts, too much life to share here. We have set up a special page to post memories.

Rising rents forced Steve Rosenthal to close one of NYC's best indie studios—but a focus on archival restoration has saved his business.

Father's Day 2017
Sorry to say, my Dad, Murray Rosenthal passed away on Monday. If yours is still here, remember to give him a call or text today. Your time together is a gift.
So, What was my Dad like?
He was funny, present, noncomplaining, musical, inquisitive, loyal, liberal, extremely hard working and confident. He was a medic during WWII and he helped in the liberation of two concentration camps. He was also at times spoiled, selfish and at his worst unable to care how his actions affected those around him. In others words, he was human. And on Monday, he proved that again, by showing me how to fight hard for life and then accept death when surrounded by those that love you.
My Dad's effect on my life is fundamental. So much of what I do, what I like, how I act, how I love, who I hate, is an imitation or a reaction to him. I feel really lucky to have had him as my Dad, and I miss talking to him already.
During one of our last conversations, I asked him for some wisdom he could give me after being around for more than 95 years, and he thought for a moment and then flashed that Murray smile and said.
"Just keep hanging with the cool people"
Ok, Dad, I will. But let's face it "cool" lost an expert when you closed your eyes for the last time.
