In a newly released statement, Balenciaga says it “takes responsibility” amid continued coverage surrounding two recent campaigns that have received still-growing criticism.

In the statement, a spokesperson addressed the controversy spurred by the two separate campaigns, i.e. this month’s Spring 2023 and Gift Shop campaigns.

“We strongly condemn child abuse,” the company’s statement, shared Monday, said. “It was never our intent to include it in our narrative. The two separate ad campaigns in question reflect a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes responsibility.”

Florida man Jermaine Bell is recovering in hospital after he drank a cup of bleach when he was found guilty in court.

As he heard the verdict on the armed robbery charges against him, 38-year-old Bell was recorded drinking from a cup that contained a bleach-like chemical that immediately made him sick. Bell, who has been in custody for over three years, was taken out of the courtroom on a stretcher. While he has survived the incident, members of his family have questioned how he was able to bring the bleach into the courtroom in the first place.

“I see him drinking something that’s not right,” said Reverend Jerome Starling, a relative of Bell. “His attorneys are letting him drink it. Corrections letting him drink it. All of a sudden I see him collapse. And I said how could this happen.” Video of the moment he appeared to drink the bleach was recorded by Bell’s cousin, who didn’t identify herself by name. “Very emotional for the family,” she said. “We thought we was gonna lose Jermaine that day.”

At one moment during the courtroom drama, an officer approached Bell and attempted to get him to spit out the liquid. Additional footage shows him in serious pain as he’s taken out of the courtroom on a stretcher. The situation is currently under investigation by the Miami-Dade police and Miami-Dade County Corrections.

The city of Atlanta will pay $1 million to the family of Rayshard Brooks, who was shot and killed by a white police officer in June 2020.

Per a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta City Council voted unanimously in support of the payment following a closed session on Monday.

In a statement to the publication, the team of attorneys representing the Brooks family commented on this particular case being settled while looking forward to what they hope will be an eventual intervention from the Department of Justice.

Rayshard Brooks, 27, was fatally shot by officer Garrett Rolfe on June 12, 2020. At the time, Rolfe and another officer, Devin Brosnan, were both on the scene after responding to a call of Brooks’ vehicle having blocked the drive-through lane at a Wendy’s restaurant.

During a subsequent pursuit on foot, Brooks was alleged to have taken one of the officer’s taser devices and used it.

Rolfe ultimately shot Brooks in the back with his handgun. One of Rolfe’s shots allegedly struck a nearby vehicle that was occupied.

The fatal shooting was widely criticized and spurred a wave of protests. Initially, both officers were hit with charges in connection with the shooting.

However, the officers later filed a federal lawsuit of their own in which they argued their rights were violated. As reported in August, the officers are no longer facing charges.

At least 162 people were killed and 700 others injured after a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Java on Monday, the Associated Press reports.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil told the outlet that “the majority of those who died were children,” adding that more than 13,000 people have been displaced by the earthquake.

Additionally, at least 25 people were still trapped under collapsed buildings.

“There are still many residents trapped at the incident sites, we assume that the injured and dead victims will continue to increase over time,” Kamil said.

According to a statement from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the earthquake impacted West Java at 1:21 p.m. local time, hitting the Cianjur region, which is located about 47 miles southeast of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, the hardest.

The Cianjur district counts 2,272 houses, four government buildings, several schools, and a hospital among the area’s damaged infrastructure.

A government official in the Cianjur regency told the Washington Post, “The majority who died were hit by buildings. Some were hit on the head. All you can hear here is ambulance sirens everywhere.”

Blueface has been released on bail, his manager Wack100 has confirmed in a series of posts on Instagram.

“Wack ain’t ever need money for any of my artist ever,” Wack100 wrote in mostly all-caps. “Man was released 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.”

TMZ reported that a Clark County Court judge set his bail at $50,000, with a court date scheduled for Jan. 24.

The incident reportedly happened over a bad joke, at least according to the alleged victim who police said was hit “multiple times” after the incident.

Police have since confirmed there were multiple bullet marks on the truck that the victim escaped in, and he suffered a “bullet graze wound” on one of his hands.

A video that appears to show Blueface open fire on a truck outside of a club in Las Vegas last month surfaced online earlier this week.

The clip appears to show the truck pull up on what is alleged to be Blueface and his crew, with him later firing a handgun at the vehicle as it sped away.

He’s shown firing multiple shots in the video, which is seemingly security camera footage from outside of the club.

The outlet says legal docs accuse Blueface of felony attempted murder with the use of a deadly firearm or tear gas on Oct. 8.

He also faces a charge of discharging a gun into a house, building, vehicle or craft.

Prosecutors are looking to call “around 300 witnesses” in the upcoming YSL RICO trial.

Fulton County prosecutor Adriane Love told Judge Ural Glanville of their plans during a hearing Thursday.

The trial, which involves Young Thug and Gunna, is scheduled to begin on Jan. 9.

A judge previously denied Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ request to delay the trial until March 2023, arguing that a postponement would “protect the rights” of all 28 defendants associated with the 56-count indictment since all of them “need to be tried together.”

Witnesses have become something of a recurring topic of conversation over the last few months. Prosecutors filed a motion in July stating witnesses claimed they were being intimidated over their involvement in the case, leading to “fear not only for their own lives, but for their families’ lives should they testify.”

The motion was filed one day after prosecutors accused Thug and his YSL associates of making “numerous threats to kill or harm witnesses.”

A witness, who has been identified as a “YSL associate,” was placed in protective custody in August after “a document and part of a cooperating witness’ statement” was leaked online.

“As a result [of the leak], the state now has grave concerns about the safety of that named witness and other potential witnesses in this trial,” Willis said.

Thug has been charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO act and participation in criminal street gang activity, while Gunna faces a conspiracy to violate RICO charge.

They have been incarcerated since May 9 and May 11, respectively.

The family of an American man is asking for help after he was reportedly found dead in South America last week.

According to Colombian news outlets, Paul Nguyen arrived in Medellin on Nov. 6 and was killed just four days later.

The 27-year-old Cal State Fullerton graduate was reportedly visiting the country with a friend when he made a connection on a popular dating app.

Nguyen’s family says he began chatting with a woman on Tinder and agreed to meet her at a bar.

His sister, Amy Nguyen, told ABC 7 that her brother was last seen leaving the establishment at around 2 a.m. Thursday, and his body was found several hours later next to garbage receptacles.

Nguyen’s family says authorities believe the man was lured into a dangerous situation and subsequently drugged and robbed.

Amy Nguyen shared additional details in a since-deleted Reddit post, stating her brother’s card “was used at a pharmacy, however according to the cashier the guy was not Asian.”

According to ABC 7, Colombian police have yet to make any arrests in connection to Nguyen’s murder. His family is now focused on bringing his body to the U.S.

A video allegedly showing a Charlotte, North Carolina woman being physically attacked in a hotel room in Mexico has prompted an FBI investigation.

WBTV News reports that the woman, 25-year-old Shanquella Robinson, went to Cabo, Mexico with a group of friends on Oct. 28, and she never made it back home, tragically dying on the trip.

Her story and the video have since gone viral on social media.

Now, Robinson’s parents, Bernard and Salamondra Robinson want to find out what happened.

Mexican authorities and the young woman’s friends reportedly told the family that Shanquella died from alcohol poisoning, but her death certificate reveals that she died from a severe spinal cord injury.

“[I] spoke with her Friday evening she was having dinner and I never spoke with her again,” Salamondra told the news outlet.

“On Saturday evening, they called and said she wasn’t feeling well, and they were going to call a doctor. And when they called, the doctor hadn’t arrived yet, but they said she had alcohol poisoning.”

Her family has since reported her death to the FBI. The context surrounding the footage is unclear and it’s unknown if the fight led to any fatalities.

Robinson’s funeral is scheduled for this coming weekend in Charlotte.

“All I’ve been doing is just crying trying to figure out what happened,” her father, Bernard said.

“I can’t even be a grandfather, can’t even walk her down the aisle, she’s gone.”

A Florida judge has awarded Gabby Petito’s family $3 million in the wrongful death lawsuit they filed against Brian Laundrie’s estate in May.

The suit had alleged that Brian Laundrie’s parents, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie, were aware their son murdered Petito after she had gone missing during a road trip in August 2021.

The family will likely receive far less from Laundrie’s estate, but Petito’s family said they intend to donate every penny to the Gabby Petito Foundation, which is a charity created in their daughter’s memory.

Petito’s family additionally filed a civil lawsuit against Laundrie’s estate citing similar allegations, and they’re additionally suing the Moab Police Department over what they viewed as an insufficient response to their daughter’s disappearance.

The latter filing claims the police didn’t thoroughly investigate Laundrie during their encounters with him, and that authorities made him out to be the victim rather than Petito.

The family accuses the police of “egregiously misinterpreting” the incident, and that their case is a “vehicle for systemic change and a reckoning about how the police enforce the State’s domestic abuse laws.”

Officers had encountered the couple on Aug. 12, 2021, and found Petito crying with visible cuts on her face and arm. The police merely said they stayed apart for the night.

Petito died by strangulation in Wyoming a few days later, and Brian, who police later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, seemed to confess to the crime in a journal entry.

Gabby Petito's family is pursuing $50 million in damages.

On Wednesday, the United States Senate advanced a bill that would codify federal protections for same-sex marriage.

The bill—known as the Respect for Marriage Act—passed by a vote of 62-37, more than the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster.

The legislation received support from every Senate Democrat as well as a dozen Republican members.

RFMA would repeal Bill Clinton’s Defense of Marriage Act, which defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and allowed states to deny recognition of same-sex marriage.

In 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Section 3 of DOMA was unconstitutional, as the federal government could not discriminate against married gay couples by denying them federal protections.

Two years later, the court struck down the DOMA section that allowed states not to recognize same-sex marriages; the decision effectively granted the constitutional right to marriage equality.

Shortly after, the top House and Senate Democrats introduced RFMA.

Back in July, the House approved an earlier version of the bill with support from 47 Republicans.

However, a bipartisan group of senators recently announced revisions to the bill that would protect religious liberties.

The amendment states nonprofit religious organizations are not required to provide “any services, facilities or goods for the solemnization or celebration of a marriage.”

The updated bill will return to the House for another vote. If approved, the bill will head to President Joe Biden’s desk for approval.

A Texas man died last week after he was knocked off of an 18-wheeler he was dancing on top of along the US-59 Eastex Freeway, People reports.

According to the Houston Police Department, the unidentified 25-year-old man was knocked off the top of the truck around 11:35 a.m. on Nov. 10.

Police say the driver was not aware that anyone was on top of his truck. The man either jumped or climbed on top of the truck, before he proceeded to film himself dancing.

Video of the incident was posted online by Grizzy’s Hood News, which captured the man ducking under one overpass before he stood up and continued dancing.

“As the 18-wheeler passed underneath the Tuam Street bridge, the male was struck and knocked off the trailer onto the freeway main lanes,” police said.

Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the man to Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was questioned by police and released without charges.

Police determined that the driver was not driving under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

The investigation into the deadly accident is still ongoing.

Elon Musk has asked Twitter employees to commit to “long hours” or they’ll be fired.

The new boss of Twitter sent an email around midnight pacific time on Wednesday with a Google Form that he said employees must fill out by Thursday, 5 p.m. ET.

The form asks whether the remaining workers at the company are looking to leave, or stay and commit to “long hours at high intensity.”

“Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore,” Musk wrote in the email, per The Wall Street Journal.

“This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

The email was titled “A Fork in the Road,” per The New York Times.

The form asked staff to click “yes” on the pledge to the “new Twitter,” and if they fail to do it by the deadline, they will be fired with three months severance pay.

Musk said that engineering is the primary focus for employees at the moment, and all design and product management will take a back seat for the time being.

He expects his “restructuring” of Twitter to be finalized by the end of this week, he said during a court case regarding his compensation as chief executive of Tesla.

A woman was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport this month after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered what they later said was $450,000 of co***ne inside the wheels of a wheelchair.

Per a report from the Associated Press, Emelinda Paulino De Riva was arrested following a flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on Nov. 10.

Initially, CBP officers claim to have identified an “anomaly” in the woman’s wheelchair, the wheels of which were allegedly not turning as they normally would.

Further investigation, including an x-ray, resulted in the discovery of a powder officers claim tested positive for co***ne.

De Rivas was ultimately arrested and charged with importation of a controlled substance in connection with the alleged 28-pound co***ne haul.

For the first time since the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, Casey Anthony will give an on-camera interview about the controversial case in Peacock’s upcoming three-part series Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies.

The three-part limited series begins streaming Nov. 29. Anthony, who in 2011 was cleared of murdering her daughter, said she “still [doesn’t] know what happened to Caylee.”

In the series, Casey explained her recollection of the events which led up to her daughter’s murder, which she blames on her father.

“He was standing there with her,” she said. “She was soaking wet. He handed her to me. Said it was my fault. That I caused it. But he didn’t rush to call 911 and he wasn’t trying to resuscitate her. I collapsed with her in my arms. She was heavy, and she was cold. He takes her from me and he immediately softens his tone and says, ‘It’s going to be ok.’ I wanted to believe him. He took her from me and he went away.”

Anthony claims she didn’t tell anyone what happened, but also wasn’t under the impression that her daughter had died.

“During the 31 days, I genuinely believed that Caylee was still alive,” she shared. “My father kept telling me she was ok. I had to keep following his instructions. He told me what to do. I tried to act as normal as I could.”

Nick Cannon has corrected a report claiming he pays “nearly $3 million” per year in child support.

“I definitely spend a lot more than that on my children annually,” he told the Neighborhood Talk.

“I don’t plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child [support].”

The $3M estimate was made by Goldie Schon, an attorney who practices family law in California, in an article by the Sun tabloid.

Less than two weeks after it was announced Nick Cannon is expecting his 11th child, the Wild ‘n Out host is now confirmed to be expecting his 12th.

As Page Six reports, Abby De La Rosa announced via her Instagram Story that Cannon is the father of her unborn child.

The pair have already welcomed twins, Zion and Zillion.
