The Downtown Alliance has issued the following Alert! regarding street closure in the World Trade Center area tomorrow, Wednesday May 30th in order to facilitate ceremonies honoring the recovery workers of 9/11. These closures (including the pedestrian walkway over West Street will affect pedestrians and vehicular traffic. From 4pm to approx. 9:30pm.
The Alliance for Downtown New York has been informed by the Mayor’s Office Community Affairs Unit that on Wednesday May 30th there will be limited pedestrian and vehicle access near the World Trade Center site for a ceremony honoring the 9/11 Recovery Workers.
The following streets will not have access to parking:
• Liberty and Cedar Streets between Broadway and Trinity Place/Church Street (except to official vehicles)
• Liberty and Cedar Streets between Greenwich Street and Trinity Place
• Greenwich Street between Liberty and Rector Streets
• Albany Street between West and Greenwich Streets
• Carlisle Street between West and Washington Streets
• Trinity Place between Liberty and Cedar Streets
The following streets will be closed to traffic from 4:00 PM until 9:30 PM. Pedestrian access will be very limited:
• Liberty and Cedar Streets between West Street and Trinity Place
• Greenwich Street between Liberty and Rector Streets
• Albany Street between West and Greenwich Streets
Thames Street between Greenwich Street and Trinity Place will remain open to pedestrians.
Please note, the Liberty Street pedestrian bridge will be closed from 6:00 PM until 9:30 PM on Wednesday, May 30th, 2012. To cross West Street, pedestrians will be directed north to cross at Vesey Street or south to cross at Albany Street. No parking will be in effect on all closed streets, including official permit parking. All cars parked illegally will be towed. If you have further questions, please call 311 or visit www.nyc.gov.
