If 40% of Black Americans—roughly 20 million people—committed to systematically supporting local Black-owned businesses, it would completely reshape the economic geography of American cities. A 40% shift is highly achievable and economically viable. It represents a targeted injection of roughly $840 billion annually (40% of the $2.1 trillion total purchasing power) directly into neighborhood enterprises.
