Bronx World Film welcomes director Vibol Sungkriem back to our programming with the New York premiere of his latest documentary, made over the course of a trip to his homeland of Cambodia after a forty-year absence. We screened a short version of this documentary as part of our Summer Cycle, and are proud now to premiere the full-length version in our Winter Cycle.

A note of interest in Bronx history: Vibol grew up in The Bronx as part of what was then the largest Cambodian emigré community in the US, in the Fordham district, all of them refugees who fled the genocide in their homeland. Very little of that community remains today. As the filmmaker himself tells it, this homecoming was a life-changing moment that marked a new direction in his film career.
