We'll Never Have Paris

We'll Never Have Paris Putting the noir in memoir.
(1)

Submissions based, advertisement free. Reads like a book, looks like a zine. ABOUT THE ZINE We’ll Never Have Paris (WNHP) is a journal of nonfiction memoir in zine format. It started as a biannual in 2007 and became an annual in 2012. WNHP Founding editor Andria Alefhi wanted to see her writing in print, and realized that other emerging writers did too. Collaborating with Jaime Borschuk began in the early issues with cover design, layout work, and story submissions. Asking her to come on board in 2016 to co-edit WNHP 13: West Coast was a natural progression. We publish real stories by diverse writers about *all things never meant to be.*

Mission: We publish real stories by diverse writers about *all things never meant to be.*

Towards Chinatown

Here's a wonderful newly published essay by Melissa Hung, who contributed to WNHP # 16 (the Food issue). This one is about her mother and first language: https://longreads.com/2019/08/05/towards-chinatown/

Faced with the possibility of losing of her mother, Melissa Hung contemplates another loss — of her mother tongue.

Crying in H Mart

Our upcoming FOOD issue is heading off to print and will be available soon. In the meantime enjoy this great little piece that fits the theme by Michelle Zauner (aka Japanese Breakfast).

Sobbing near the dry goods, I ask myself, “Am I even Korean anymore if there’s no one left in my life to call and ask which brand of seaweed we used to buy?”

Live in NYC? Want to write and submit to the next issue but need a little nudge? The theme for WNHP 16 is FOOD. That's super easy, any personal essay or true story about eating (or struggles with), family recipes, food for thought, your last meal with your husband before you signed the divorce papers, the homemade chicken soup from the co-worker you thought hated you - the list goes on. It's nice to write with people, and you get the chance to share it with the group if you wish to that day. All stories written will be absolutely read and replied to. We will work with you to get you print ready. Also included is a free copy of WNHP 15 to get you inspired and an opening meditation to get you centered. When is this?

Had a great day at Pete's Mini Zine Fest yesterday. Thank you to the delightful blue-haired woman who bought enough to share with friends, and thank you to everyone who takes a chance on this little zine of memoir for the first time. Still copies of WNHP 15: America for sale and just a few of WNHP 14 left. And ps: WNHP 16 is already accepting submissions on the theme of 'food' so whatever that means to you, send us an essay. Happy World Cup finals everyone.
