What a phenomenal evening!✨ Our EIC visited to watch an interview with and ended up having the opportunity to ask him a question of her own!🤯 We love how inclusive Brandon Maxwell is as a designer and how transparent he is as a human being. ✨ This will be an event to remember. ❤️ @ BUILD Series

✨SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT:✨

The Pretty Smart scholarship is back! We’re back with a $500 scholarship to help YOU pursue further educational opportunities and passion projects!

INFO:

Any female-identifying individuals who are aged 13-21 are open to apply for the Pretty Smart scholarship. The scholarship can be applied to any educational opportunities or passion projects that one would like to pursue. The recipient of the award must be able to be interviewed for our magazine (we want to highlight YOU)! Priority goes to those who are past/present scholars or students/alumni. Apply before May 17, 2019 to be considered for the award! The recipient of the award will be notified by May 24, 2019.

This is our entry into the x via our EIC - “Brilliant, bold, and beautiful—I started using those three words to define my summer style after creating the body positive platform, Pretty Smart. Creating that publication uprooted the fatphobic view I held of my own body, allowing me to divert from the normalized societal ideals of beauty that convinced me that shrinking my size was the only way to be “pretty.” I didn’t want to shrink, I wanted to grow bigger and brighter and better. I dove into a plethora of vivid hues, becoming a fat and unapologetic summertime dream in sherbet and neon colors. Today, and everyday, I take up space in my body, allowing my rolls and stretch marks to be on view for the world to see at the beach and on the street. My perfect bikini body is a round stomach full of self acceptance and chubby thighs that walk on the ground I deserve to stand on. My summer style is defined by which rainbow hue I want to wear, not what I should wear. Fat bodies are valued bodies in every season and in every bikini, crop top, and pair of denim shorts—period,” Brianna Adkins. 💖✨
