Today is Boost NJ Day: Get Your Booster!

Wednesday, December 15th marks the anniversary of the first COVID-19 vaccinations in New Jersey.

Governor Murphy and NJ Department of Health Commissioner Persichilli are calling on all vaccination partners to join together and commemorate this day as Boost NJ Day.

Clinics are encouraged to have walk-in availability and extended hours to help make booster doses as available and accessible as possible. A special list of Boost NJ Day clinics with walk-in availability will be posted next week on covid19.nj.gov

Find walk-in locations or make an appointment now at covid19.nj.gov/finder.

Everyone 16 and older should get a booster shot if it has been at least two months since their one-dose Johnson & Johnson shot or at least six months after completing their two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series.

Find and schedule a vaccine appointment at New Jersey vaccination locations near you. All individuals aged 12 and older who live, work, or study in New Jersey are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines.

The Caribbean Voice is organizing a regional Caribbean high school essay contest for fourth to sixth formers on the topic of domestic violence. This is part of project aimed at getting schools to start the conversation on domestic violence, young people to engage in primary research in their communities and the media to enhance their sensitization and info dissemination. We also hope to get all ministries of Education on board with ultimate aim of creating DV change agents in communities across the Caribbean. Please click this link to donate, no matter what amount as every cent helps: https://www.gofundme.com/f/caribbean-high-school-domestic-essay-contest Please also help us promote by sharing the link within your networks. On this 58th anniversary of the Independence of Trinidad & Tobago, in response to the Prime Minister’s desire to repatriate stranded nationals and as responsible citizens who have endured untold hardships by being displaced in foreign lands, have sacrificed, have been extremely patient and are important stakeholders in the repatriation process, we would like to propose the following after consultation with health care professionals and in accordance with current local and international policy: Displaced citizens will: 1. Liaise with public health officials to arrange place of quarantine: at home or if not possible e.g. lives with extended family, state sponsored quarantine. 2. Do a Corona virus PCR test within 72 hours of anticipated air-travel. In those instances, where the national is unable to pay for test or does not have access to test, the Ministry of Health will advise on alternative arrangements. 3. Sign the Public Health ‘Quarantine order” on arrival at the airport 4. Quarantine at home or state facility for 14 days 5. In the case of home quarantine, symptoms to be monitored by the respective County Medical Officer Health (CMOH) offices (as afforded to the 643 Covid-19 positive patients who are currently quarantined at home) 6. Allow for spot checks by Public Health Officials and /or TTPS 7. If asymptomatic, no further testing is required (using the clinical criteria of WHO) If patient becomes unwell, admission as per protocol 8. Pay for their air fare at a fair rate (most have been without employment for duration of stay in foreign country) Government in turn: 1. Approve the return of at least 300 citizens every 7 days with a valid Negative PCR certificate with exceptions as noted in 1 above. 2. Assist in the arrangement of flights. Consider New York, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, UK and Canada. Where possible the national carrier will be utilized to assist national with cost 3. Approval of emergency cases on a need basis e.g. medical conditions, death of loved ones, pregnancy and child-birth We are looking for volunteers to hand deliver a copy to the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of National Security and Ministry of Health We would also like to encourage the media houses to publish our proposal May God bless our nation

July 19, 2019. MEDIA INVITATION FROM GUYANESE PARLIAMENTARY OPPOSITION Opposition Members of Parliament of Guyana would tomorrow (Saturday July 20) meet the Trinidad and Tobago media on the illegal and illegitimate caretaker Government in their country. The Guyanese Government has refused to call a general election following the passage of a no-confidence motion in Parliament last December and the subsequent validation of that vote by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ). The CCJ has asked that a general election be held as soon as possible. The Granger Government is continuing business as usual in spite of the fact that it is unlawful and unconstitutional and despite its public commitment to abide by the CCJ’s ruling. The Members of Parliament would update the T&T media about the national state of affairs at that fellow Caricom country. The media conference takes place at the law offices of Mr. Randy Depoo at 43 Woodford Street (corner of Warner Street), Port of Spain, from 10:30 a.m. For further information, kindly call 868-682-9377. Thank you for your response to this invitation.
Simon Pereira Shorey, President of Resilient JC, had the great pleasure and honor of today hosting the Honorable Mrs. Christine Newallo-Hosein, Member of Parliament for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Mrs. Newallo-Hosein was especially interested in the empowering of citizens to immediately respond to medical emergencies and disasters when full-time professional responders are not available, and praised the volunteers of the Jersey City Community Emergency Response Team and United Rescue. Our deep thanks to Gary Mahabir for facilitating this meeting, and to Shina Goodin for joining us and talking about her experience with United Rescue. https://www.facebook.com/476084269414625/posts/791285111227871?sfns=mo
