🗣️ “Don’t worry, Mom. One day you will live like the rich people in the village.”

🇰🇪 Agnes Jebet made that promise as a hungry kid with nothing on the table. She is the second of eight children. She left school after her father died. She started selling charcoal and alcohol to help her mom and siblings survive.

Her mom had been a runner too but never got the support to see her own talent through. The dream was passed along to Agnes.

At a regional race, Agnes collapsed before the finish line since she was too hungry to see. A teacher named Ruth Bundotich carried her home, tracked down Agnes’ mother and convinced her to let her pursue a running career.

🎧 We’re all in awe of what Agnes does when she run since the performances and results speak for themselves. But the latest episode of The CITIUS MAG Podcast takes you back to where it all started: her upbringing, her family, and the fire that’s driven her since she was a kid in the village to these incredible heights. Get to know her story. Now available to stream, download and listen on Apple Podcasts + Spotify.
