Like you, we are saddened and distressed by the tragic events unfolding in Afghanistan. As survivors of our own nation's violent upheavals, we understand too well the terror and distress that the people of that country must be experiencing in recent weeks and months.

When a nation is torn apart by extremism, it is the most vulnerable who suffer the most. In Burma, that means the Rohingyan refugees, who had to flee to another side of the border where the upcoming monsoon season post a grave danger. Please join us with UNHCR Canada to support a roof on thousands of families in Cox's Bazaar refugee camp.

Since August 2017, over 700,000 stateless Rohingya refugees have fled to Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, to escape the genocidal violence they faced in Rakhine state, Myanmar. Although they thought they reached safety, the shelters in the camps are prone to landslides and flooding.

: It all washed away: At least 21,000 Rohingya refugees lost everything during recent floods in Bangladesh. The families and individuals affected by the recent floods and monsoons need emergency shelter, food, and water.

The challenges Rohingya refugees face should not be faced by them alone. Your help is urgently needed to help us respond to this emergency.

The Canadian Rohingya Development Initiative (CRDI) is partnering with UNHCR to lead the emergency response effort by distributing urgently needed supplies on the ground in Bangladesh.

Please consider donating today to provide food, clean water, and other life-saving aid to thousands of Rohingya refugee families! DONATE:

Couldn't be more proud of CRDI’s very own Jaivet Ealom for the global release of his book, Escape from Manus. This book is both impossible riveting and sure to change the conversation on the world's refugee crisis.

It’s here! The first big news story on Escape from Manus. Officially released this week and profiled just in time for Canada Day. https://www.penguin.com.au/books/escape-from-manus-9781761040214

(Toronto, Canada, June 20, 2020) – Today we honour the strength and spirit of the millions of refugees around the world. We acknowledge all those who have been forced to flee their homes because of persecution, war, or violence.

Once again, Canadian Rohingya Development Initiative (CRDI) focuses its attention on Rohingya refugees. By now, it is well known that Rohingya people make up one of the largest refugee populations in the entire world. Although most Rohingya refugees are in Bangladesh, they also constitute large refugee communities in many other countries of the world.

We must keep vigilant and use every opportunity to bring attention to this cause.

We are heartbroken and horrified over the mass murder of a Muslim family in London, Ontario. This was a heinous and senseless attack, motivated by hate and Islamophobia. We must name it for what it is: an act of terrorism. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, opposition leader Erin O'Toole, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, Green Leader Annamie Paul and NCCM leader Mustafa Farooq addressed the event in London.
