What’s Under The Hood of The OCTA? 🇬🇧

Now, we’ve spent 1 week living with it, and it’s as awesome as you’d expect. The OCTA isn’t some silly body kit, it’s an all new Defender put through over 13,960 durability tests and featuring the new 6D Dynamics Hydrualic-Air Suspension, a new quick 13.7:1 steering rack, wider track width, Graphite coated shielding, 3.3ft of water wading, up to 33in rubber, 12.7 in of ground clearance…. Shall I go on? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So how was it?

The OCTA truly can handle any terrain both on or off road. It’s a giant luxury rally car with a trick suspension that nearly eliminates body roll and absorbs bumps (on gravel or pavement) like a cloud. The chassis dynamics, wild quick turn in, RWD bias (OCTA mode), near instant torque and luxurious cabin?? What more could you want? I left my week craving an OCTA for myself and a bit more excited than when we reviewed a G63 AMG. It’s worth the as tested $170,200 our tested came in, and that’s not always true of this price point.

Audi once held a 100% stake in Italdesign and even though it’s selling a majority, Lamborghini will continue to maintain shares in the company. Italdesign has been around since 1968, creating countless iconic vehicles from BMW, Hyundai, Audi, VW, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati and so many more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Founder Giorgeto Giugiaro is also still around, now working at a new company he founded, GFG Style, carrying on the iconic wedge shapes. Some iconic recent creations of Italdesign include the GT-R50 with Nissan, the Lambo based Zerouno, and many concepts. The future sounds bleak as this UST company is focused on Ai, data, and tech. Hopefully, UST will honor the iconic design heritage of Italdesign and not let computers do the work.

Rivian’s Universal Hands Free Driving ⚡️

[12-11-25 /// ] Rivian has announced quite a lot of new features upcoming at their Autonomy & Ai Day event! The company is working towards Level 4 autonomous driving and one of the steps towards that goal is their new in house designed Ai chip called the Rivian Autonomy Processer or RAP1. This new computer has a wild processing power of 5 billion pixels a second. Oh but there’s lots more. The upcoming R2 SUV will offer a very sleek integrated LiDar sensor, and the company knows how to make it work. The sensor will be apart of a multi-sensor strategy providing the computer with detailed, 3D spatial data and redundant sensing, stuff just pure Vision cannot offer. This means an extra safety net in extreme cases that, for example, Tesla’s neural network, may have not learned yet or cannot see with vision. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Also new will be the Rivian Universal Hands Free Drivng coming to the R1S and R1T soon. Over 3.5 million miles of roads will be able to driven on hands free in both the USA and Canada, and not just highway only too. Along with this comes Autonomy+, offering all of these features including hands free lane changes, hands free on and off ramp driving, auto parking and more. The subscription costs $49 a month OR you can buy it out for just $2,500.

The brand has a unique version of everything from the Silverado and Silverado EV, to the Colorado and even Silverado HD. But the Corvette lineup is by far the best. All of which, made right here in the USA. The Corvettes will be offered in black or white with a special American flag design graphic in silver or black. The Vetts also get black exhausts, special 250 decals, red calipers and dark wheels. Just 250 will be made too.

The Silverado starts out as a RST 4WD Crew cab with a V8 in black or white, 22in wheels, special graphics and more. The HD follows suit while the EV gets 24inch wheels. The Colorado is based upon the Trail Boss with 20in wheels and similar color and design themes. Oh yeah, an a ZR1X finished in the Stars & Steel livery will be auctioned off at Barrett Jackson this January with all proceeds going to charity. On top of that, every starts & steel product sale will automatically donate $250 to nonprofit groups supporting our veterans. 🇺🇸

[12-11-25 /// /// Image by: Land Rover ] After just reviewing the 2025 Defender OCTA, it looks like JLR is ready to give some of those bits to the classic Defender. Meet the Land Rover Classic Defender now with some OCTA options. This restore and custom program allows buyers to spruce up their classic Defender in any of the colors and trim bits of the new 2025/2026 Defender OCTA! The versions we see here are 2012-2016 Defenders finished in Petra Copper, Faroe Green, Sargasso Blue, and Narvik Black - all of which can be gloss or satin. Oh yeah, and they take 300 hours to paint by hand.. wow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🏁 Spec sheet: Under the hood of these classic Defenders is a 5.0L V8 making 400HP to all four wheels via an 8-speed gearbox. 🏁

Under the skin are upgraded brakes and suspension components too. There are also new wheel designs ranging from 16 inches to 18 inches along with a new black grille, forged carbon trim, and extensive interior upgrades. Buyers can choose from the new OCTA’s Ultrafabrics, like we had on our 2025 Tester, or semi-aniline leather in various colors. There also is a new 13.1in touchscreen, modern bucket seats, modern switchgear and shifter, and more. If you want one, you have to be in the UK and it costs a whopping $254k - more than a new OCTA by $100k in the USA.

[12-10-25 /// /// Image by Kia] We had a go in the, at the time, facelifted 2024 Seltos at launch, but now there’s an all new generation looking sharper than ever before! First up, design: this 2nd gen Seltos honestly looks sharp, with new LED light designs, a rather clean body shape, a familiar floating roof design, heck it could be confused for the new Mercedes GLB out back- not a bad thing. Kia also is adding new paint options from a Matte Red, Gray and Green offering. All I know is it looks much more cohesive than the Sportage (full review coming soon!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spec Sheet: The new Seltos rides on the Kia K3 platform. It will launch globally with familiar engines too: starting with a 2.0L n/a 4 cylinder making 147HP or a 1.6L Turbo making 178HP or 190HP depending on where it’s sold. USA Seltos will offer more power.

A hybrid Seltos is coming in 2026 with a regen braking system, V2L, and more.

This new Seltos is a bit lager than before too, at 1.8in longer than before and 2.4in more length in the wheelbase. And inside? Woah. Kia has been doing some sharp new interiors that are now stating to live up to the design with decent build quality as well. Here we can see a 12.3in cluster & touchscreen display. There are some physical buttons and climate buttons but it looks like we have the objectively awful center climate panel we were NOT fans of on our Kia EV9 review. Other than that, the seats, color options, new steering wheel, and center console all look sharp.

Detailed: Genesis Wingback Concept 🇰🇷🤤

[12-9-25 /// ] Genesis has finally revealed official images of their Wingback G90 Concept that we ALL are craving for. What is it? Id you somehow missed this wild creation, the G90 Wingback is a Magma Concept essentially turning a G90 into a wild high performance wagon with quad exhausts, crazy aero, and epic looks.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏁 Spec Sheet: Currently the most powerful G90 uses a 3.5L Twin Turbo eSuperchrged V6… but from our own testing in the GV80 Coupe, it isn’t the most dynamic powertrain. A Magma G90 would need both more power & more character. 🏁
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Of course the boldest modification is the new wagon rear end, decked out with a ducktail spoiler. Up front are aero canards, flared and vented front fenders, and even roof mounted aero vanes. Inside is Magmaified too with a plethora of Alcantara, a custom steeringwheel, and contrast green stitching. The best part about this project is it uses a G90 chassis with largely body modifications… so it wouldn’t be outrageously expensive to build.

[12–3-25 /// ] Volvo has been one of very few companies to employ a LiDAR sensor for the road….but not anymore. LiDAR is a laser based system to support advanced driver assistance technologies, and is quite useful to map the environment around a car with precision. Volvo chose USA based Luminar as their supplier of LiDAR units to the EX90 and ES90 EVs…. But that has just been cancelled. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Already for 2026, after just around a year fully on the market, the EX90 and all new ES90 (Not sold in the USA), will not have a LiDAR option. Volvo claims this is due to limited supply of the LiDAR units and it hampering their production to meet demand. They also made a bold statement against Luminar, who allegedly did not meet the terms of their contract with Volvo.

Luminar, who is facing bankruptcy, is now filing a claim against Volvo, likely to save their existence. Regardless, Volvo says their cars do not need to rely on LiDAR anymore to offer their advanced safety suite.

This MBUX Superscreen is one big glass surface too. A 12.2inch HUD is on offer along with a 16 speaker Burmester audio system. The EV launches in the US later next year with the gas to follow.
