The more I explored San Francisco, the more I fell in love with it.

Admittedly my expectations of this city were super low, because of the rhetoric in the media. I had the impression that it was a city that has fallen into decay.

I did of course encounter some of those issues that are well publicized. For example how the downtown is still reeling from the effects of the pandemic, how many stores had security guards stationed to let customers in, and the rampant drug use in some areas like the Tenderloin and Mission District.

Most cities have areas that also struggle in their own ways. This is nothing new. San Francisco is just more in the spotlight. I think that’s because it’s a city of such natural and architectural beauty.

Perched on my hotel The Four Seasons Embarcadero I was able to see skyscrapers, quaint low rise neighborhoods, green mountains with the fog rolling in everyday, and the expansive bay.

I’m hard pressed to think of many other cities where I see this combination of natural beauty clashing with an urban jungle.

I can’t wait to return here and explore more!
