Customer wanted his blown-apart turbo manifold welded back together, quoted him about $200-250 to TIG it or better yet go buy a new one...he asked if I could do it for $80. Told him good luck take care 🫡 a local shop did it for the $80 budget, needless to say this is the end result 😂

They know it’s not structural welding, but that’s what they do at work. They’re a union ironworker with LU67. They welded steel sharks made entirely out of 7018 welding rods with the flux removed, then MIG welded and ground them smooth.

When you don't know dogsh*t about fitting. My manager sent me out to weld up the handrail that was "all fit up and ready to go" according to one of our top paid guys. This is why I am leaving this company.
Post edit: I got a job offer for a real fabrication shop a few days before I got to this handrail job. I'm in the middle of a one week notice simply because I like my boss. I worked a couple days at the other shop to see if it was a good fit for me, and we built a 10 x 20 foot skid for a robot. We got the skid within 1/32" of being square.
I'm not being pushed out or quitting cause I have to fill gaps. However I'm tired of lackluster QC.
