Ache - The Musical

Aché is inspired by the life and work of Gladys Montiel, a Cuban starlet of the 1950’s who exiles to New York City following the triumph of the Cuban Revolution of 1959. The story, which spans five decades, portrays her struggles to form a new life, continue her artistic career and creating a home, while searching for the basic freedoms she lost in her beloved Cuba . With its colorful characters,

epic costumes, Afro-Cuban dancing and contagious Caribbean rhythms, this story bursts into a musical celebration of the powerful spirit of a culture which continues to strive for the realizations of their dreams. This play honors the memory and the lives of all exiles; who despite conquering the difficulties of life as immigrants in the United States, still dream of returning home and flourishing in their always “perfectly-imperfect” motherland!
