A Ukrainian Jehovah’s Witness is to have his Austrian citizenship revoked for refusing to complete citizenship requirements due to personal religious convictions.

“Citizenship is not a gift but an award that requires respect and identification with Austria” stated Vice-President Landbauer in commenting on the incident.

A Ukrainian man risks losing his Austrian citizenship because he refused to sing the Austrian hymn during an award ceremony.
