KOREAN BEAUTY SLAP THERAPY — REAL OR HYPE?
Forget rubbing your creams in — in K-beauty, you SLAP them in.
A viral Korean skincare technique called "Korean Slap Therapy" or "Pat & Slap" has taken over TikTok and YouTube. Instead of gently massaging products, women tap, pat and lightly slap the face 20-50 times after applying toner, serum or moisturizer.
Why? The belief is that the rhythmic slaps:
Dilate blood vessels & increase blood circulation, giving an instant flush and glow
Stimulate collagen fibers, encourage lymphatic drainage and help firm facial muscles for a natural facelift effect
Help skincare products absorb better without dragging or stretching the skin
The method involves slaps, flicks and pinches targeted at different areas of the face, using just enough force to awaken the skin without bruising. Creators say the increased circulation creates a natural flush and supple, glowy look.
Experts are divided. While light tapping does temporarily boost blood flow and give short-term glow, dermatologists warn that too much force can cause irritation, redness or bruising, and the long-term anti-aging claims are not clinically proven.
It’s not about hitting hard — it’s about tapping smart. Gentle patting, not aggressive slapping.
Would you slap your way to glowing skin?
