Surrogate mother gives birth to !
The Gonzalez-Moreno quintuplets were born in Phoenix, Arizona, on 26 April 2005, to Luisa Gonzalez and Enrique Moreno via surrogate mother, Teresa Anderson. The five boys are the first set of quintuplets born via surrogate. The boys, in order of birth, are Enrique, Jorge, Gabriel, Javier, and Victor and weighed between 3 lb 7oz and 3 lb 15oz.
Teresa Anderson delivered the rare quintuplets by Caesarean section in the 33rd week of her pregnancy within five minutes and without complications at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Mrs. Anderson met the biological parents, Luisa Gonzales and Enrique Moreno, through an ad she placed on a surrogate parent Internet site. The couple had tried unsuccessfully to have children for a decade. Mrs. Anderson was implanted with embryos produced in a laboratory from the couple's eggs and s***m.
In the space of five minutes, surrogate mother Teresa Anderson (search) delivered five boys to a childless couple she met on the Internet, a bond that grew so close she eventually waived the $15,000 fee she had charged.
Luisa Gonzalez, 32, the children's genetic mother, said she began to cry when the first of the quintuplets emerged. "I've been waiting for this for a long time," she said. "I cannot say enough about Teresa and what she's done for us. She has given me my dream; she has given us our family."
The babies were born in the 33rd week of Anderson's pregnancy, a week earlier than planned because the mother was experiencing elevated blood pressure and other complications. A full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks.
