What is this called?
In this shaker cabinet door, what is this decorative piece called? It is about 1 inch in width and 1 inch in depth. Where can I buy it for adding to a shaker door that is just a plain shaker door?

Floating vanity (old house)
In the process of mounting a floating vanity that will have 120lb quartz top (sink included). As predicted the studs don’t align with the provided bracket. My thought was cut out drywall as pictured and use 1/2in thick plywood ledger cut about 8in in width screwed into the studs spanning the wall. The bracket would then be mounted into this plywood ledger (sorry if ledger isn’t the right term). 1/2in plywood would be so that it could remain flush with the rest of the drywall and vanity/countertop is flush with the rest of the wall.

In the first picture you can see the three studs (one is the corner) and the second photo is the fourth stud total countertop width is about 42in.

Installing Hardie Cement Board Before Tiling
Prepping my floor for my first tile install. I tore up the particle board that was on top of the OSB. Now it looks like there is quite a bit of residue from an adhesive in a very thin layer. Do I need to scrape off the adhesive before laying the cement board? I plan on installing the cement board on top of a layer of thinset and using a ton of screws. The boards on the floor aren’t installed yet, just started laying them to plan the layout and cuts.

What should we expect
We’re planning our next home project and want to redo this shower. We want new tile on the floor and walls, new hardware as well. Water pressure is also a little low so we think we’ll need some plumbing work too. The shower door was missing when we bought the house… our realtor said expect about $1k for the door alone. I’m too busy so will have to get a contractor. We like simple things and minimalist styling. We’ve never remodeled anything so we’re not really sure where to set a budget. Is $7.5-10k reasonable? We’re happy with the rest of the bathroom, it’s just the 20+ years of grime and leaky hardware thats’s getting to us.

Kitchen Renovation

Im solo female trying to renovate my kitchen.

I got a few quotes and now stuck between 2.

First person will do everything, cabinets, countertops and installation.

His cabinets- all the box is made of 5/8 premium grade plywood, all the door and drawer is soft close, door is made solid wood/hdf, face frame is made 3/4x1 1/2 hardwood.

The other person sells cabinets but doesn’t install so I would have to look for someone to install.

His cabinets - Plywood box high grade n

Maple wood door

Similar pricing. They both look the same to me 😩. I posted pics guy 1 and guy 2.

Also. My ceiling is 95, currently i have 42 in wall cabinets with minimal counter space so I was thinking about doing to 30 or 36.

Please advise. Thank you!!

Rotohammer Bit Keeps Getting Stuck

Hey All,

I’m working on a seismic retrofit currently and for the hold downs I need to drill a hole in the concrete that is about 14 inches long. But due to this tiny pocket in the basement pony wall, I have to keep swapping out drillbits so that my Roto hammer actually fits - I swap every 6/12/18 inches. Only issue is that when I swap from my 12 inch bit to my 16 inch bit the longer 16 inch bit keeps getting stuck, so then I have to stop, back it out, clean the hole, etc.

Is there a pro hack here from one of you guys? Should I oversize the hole in the first two stages so that it doesn’t get stuck in the last stage? Or maybe something else? Someone’s had to have done this before, and hopefully has some wisdom to share. Lemme know. Thanks!
