The Abbey Stories presents to you the trailer to our VERY FIRST FILM!!! 🤩🍿🎥

Two summers ago on the eve of day 1 of filming, we received an email no actor wants to receive: our director had to cancel our shoot because he caught COVID. 😭 With both of us already taking off from work and Amanda flying in, there was only one thing to do: order lunch and a bottle of Coppola, throw a script together, and film it in two days.🍷 Now entering the festival circuit is a heartfelt, snappy film about two best friends exploring the complicated terrain of falling in love in the modern world of relationships. Hello hello. I’m Denise Reed! ✨

I hail from dirty Jerz, but knew the minute I first stepped foot off of a NJ Transit bus as a kid to see my first Broadway show—42nd Street—that I’d someday live in NYC. I was a competitive dancer and went on to see the show a total of 3 times (obsessed). But dancing wasn’t my dream. It wasn’t even theater. My big dream was to be on a billboard. 😂 I’d walk the city streets with my family just waiting for a model scout to discover me. Spoiler alert, didn’t happen.

When I realized I wasn’t going to be America’s Next Top Model, I went on to Rutgers University to pursue a blander life. It wasn’t until my fourth year that I was re-bit by the entertainment bug when I coproduced and starred in my first short film for a class project. And bitch…..when I saw what we made, I FELL IN LOVE with making films. It was then that I started skipping class to go into the city for auditions.

I found my world. 🎥 But also found that I didn’t like acting for the same reasons most actors did. I loved *filmmaking.* I loved being a PART of the BIG picture. And I realized what was missing. I didn’t want to just act in films. I wanted to MAKE them.

Since then I’ve worked as everything from a background actor, a PA, costume PA on SNL & a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, a stand-in, a lead in an indie series that got me a best actress nom in the same festival as James Franco, assistant props, 1st AD & 1st AC on a feature in Mexico, a principal actor in several national commercials, co-starring on CBS’s FBI and (upcoming) STARZ’s Power: Book of Ghost, a producer, a director, basically everything under the sun that I’ve had the opportunity to do.

And YA’LL It’s been a journey to say the least! But all of it lead me to creating The Abbey Stories with my BFF, enabling me to do EVERY. SINGLE. THING. that I love about making films. And I really love the films we are making! 😊

PS. The little girl with dreams of seeing herself on billboards will be happy to know it happened, and it’ll happen again. 💋

Hello darlings. I’m Amanda Greer ✨

I grew up the daughter of a Texas drag queen and a typical stage mom, making my big debut on the small screen as the Walmart baby. According to my mother, I made more money in those commercials than they did at the time. Growing up, I always wanted to be in either NY or Paris. Paris was out of the question since I was too short to be a can-can dancer. My 18-year-old self thought she was gonna pack up her car and drive to New York and join the theater but my fearful Law & Order watching mother had other plans. So to appease her, I studied in both LA and NY and eventually found the theater after graduating.

Some of my favorite accomplishments were performing on Broadway, traveling the world with some amazing Independent Films, and meeting some of the most talented creatives in the industry. A few highlights for me were going from the stage in an original play to a film adaptation to winning the Audience Choice Award at the Richmond Film Festival for playing a Ukrainian pr******te where everyone was quoting my character in the lobby, my mother watching me for the first time on the big screen, and starring in a film that screened at Cannes Film Festival which was a full circle moment for me, being in France, not as a dancer but as an actress. Next time it’ll be as a producer!

There has always been a fire within me to produce and luckily my best friend was right on the same page! We all have unique stories within us that expand beyond the mainstream mixtape. I love stories that are women-lead and realistic to me and the way I grew up. Stories that come from my truth.

Creating art with my best friend is more than a dream come true. And of course, to honor my feline daughter, Abbey. When I’m not on stage or on set, I’m constantly advocating for animal rights. Please adopt, don’t shop. And watch independent films! Cheers, babes! 🥂

But WHO is Abbey? 🐾 Meet the precious baby angel who our company is named in honor of! 🐈 We are immense cat lovers, animal advocates, and pet mamas who love to put their fur babies in every project they do. 🎬 So, it only made sense to name our company after Amanda’s feline daughter, who’s been watching over us in kitty heaven since June of 2022. 🌈 But “The Abbey Stories” seed was truly planted during a creative, Coppola Wine🍷 filled evening back in 2018! Through the highs and the lows of life, we are finally here and ready to work under the name of a kitty icon. 😸 Cheers, babes! 🥂

Meet your new favorite female producers! 🎞️ This International Women’s Day, we are excited to formally introduce ourselves as the women behind The Abbey Stories, Amanda Greer & Denise Reed ✨

From best friends to business partners, we founded The Abbey Stories film and theatrical production company to produce stories that are about women…women with flaws, failures, growth, fears, ugliness and uncertainty. Women that are raw and visceral and gritty. Films that the little girls we were growing up can relate to. We are not a “damsel in distress”, or “girl who looks good in skin tight costumes” action film company. We speak from our truth. ♥️

It’s gonna be different. It’s gonna be difficult. So, if you can relate too, we shall see you at the theater! 🎭
