Two style of patches, two separate clubs identify as Hells Angels.

The small deathead had been around a decade longer, depending on who you believe was the founder. The larger deathhead came later from a gentleman named Vic Bettencourt.

Sonny Barger personally told me how the journey to the larger deathhead came about. On a trip to Southern California, Sonny’s bike had broken down. Along comes Vic who stops to assist. They meet exchange information and I believe club courtesy cards.

Sonny returns north and starts the push to unify the Hells Angels as one club with one emblem.
