Doing It

Doing It Doing It is a podcast about our modern existence hosted by Sophie Herbert and Fannie Cohen. We wanna know how you do it.

We take you inside intimate conversations and get access to the people who are shaping the world around you, from sanitation workers and school teachers, to psychonauts and CEOs. This is an exploration into what other people are doing here. We hope you'll discover we're more alike than not, and that there are many ways, seemingly many realities, to engage with while you're hear. Listen up! How do you do it? Send us a message here or at [email protected] About Sophie: Sophie Herbert is a certified life coach and alignment focused yoga teacher, as well as a radio personality. Her mission is to empower her clients, students, and listening audience to develop greater self-trust, overcome obstacles, and build meaningful lives. Sophie was the host of “Life Coaching with Sophie”, a one-hour daily radio show on Martha Stewart Living Radio, SiriusXM 110. Sadly, the channel was not renewed in 2013 and the show ceased production. The blessing in disguise was joining forces with her producer Fannie Cohen to make Doing It! Good morning all!
I'm really excited about the new Doing It show we just put up called "Grow A Child".
We take you inside the Deenabandhu Children's Home - an orphanage in Chamarajanagar, a rural district in Karnataka, South India. It's a unique place running with a singular philosophy, that all children should be treated as whole people. Deenabandhu raises orphaned and destitute children and also invites poor children from the surrounding neighborhoods to go to school there. Some children arrive at Deenabandhu malnourished and sick, but once inside are fed, clothed, and raised in a positive environment thanks to generous sponsorships mostly from people they've never met. In addition to encouraging the kids in academics, the abiding goal is to teach the kids life-skills in the hope they will return to their communities as responsible adults.

Garbage pt. 1

We are thrilled to present our first of two shows all about garbage. What started as a small idea to check out the NYC Dept of Sanitation turned into a mind-blowing journey about material culture, disposability, and (ready for it) accounting. This one's got it all, kid!

If you're diggin on what we're laying down, the best thing you could do for us is write a review and RATE us on iTunes. For us, or any other podcasts you love, ratings and reviews are the single best way you can support independent voices other than winning the lottery and purchasing part of a media conglomerate for us. That would be cool. Thanks!

Garbage, sh*t, waste, crap, refuse, discards, dreck - these are all words we use to describe that pile of stuff we all collect but will soon find a way to make disappear. In America, it's never been easier to throw away your trash and in this episode we face the pile head-on. Fannie and Sophie hitch...

Breaking Bread

And she's born! Our first episode of Doing It is in the wild. Your hosts Sophie and Fannie take you into a Hasidic Jewish community in Brooklyn, a bakery with a socially progressive mission, and finally to the kitchen at the New York City Rescue Mission.

If you like our vibes, share them. Your mom will probably love it.

Mad love to everyone who helped us get here! Thank you.

We talk to people who live on the periphery of society; a Hasidic woman who operates a Chinese medicine practice, immigrant bread bakers, and homeless men who run the kitchen at the New York City Rescue Mission to hear about the practices, and frankly the love, that keep them together.
