Apple picking season might be winding down, but hard cider is served all year in New York's Hudson Valley region. Many orchards use their apples to make their own hard cider and have food, activities, and live music. This makes them a great alternative to an afternoon at the vineyards.

Fall in the Hudson Valley is apple picking season!

Just 1.5 hours north New York City you can find many great orchards to pick your own apples. Many also have pony rides, mazes, live music, and farm stands. Some of my favorites include Fishkill Farms, Masker Orchards, and DuBois Farms.

I put together a full guide with my favorite apple orchards in the Hudson Valley. Link in the comments.

New York City comes even more alive than usual at Christmas time, and December is one of the busiest months to visit.

You won't run out of things to do, whether it be ice skating at Bryant Park, visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, perusing the holiday markets, watching the Rockettes perform at Radio City, or taking the trek out to Dyker Heights to see houses with extravagant light displays.

Happy Halloween!

Since Jacqueline wanted to be Elsa from Frozen, we decided to become a royal family for the night. I may have thrown my costume together last minute, but we all had so much fun at her school parade and then trick or treating with some of her school friends. And she already sneaked extra candy for dessert somehow.

I moved to New York City in 2002. The World Trade Center site was of the first places I visited. It was somber and still graveyard for people not yet found. I cried.

I then spent 15 years watching it being rebuilt as I commuted to work nearby.

After 4 years of traveling full time, I just moved back to New York to start working in WTC on Monday. I will be working at the site where 3000 people died.

I will think about those people. Husbands, wives, sons, and daughters. New college graduates just starting their career and older people getting ready to retire. Firemen, police, and medical professionals. All people who wanted to go home to their families.

Not sure how people I grew up with are so much older than me, as they’ve been posting their kids’ first day of school pics for years.

But now it’s this young Dad’s time to post my girl’s first day of her new preschool!

I love watching her grow and learn new things and she makes me proud of her every day. Go get em girl!
