1410 Jackson Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130
$4,500,000, 7 beds, 7 baths, 9,062 sqft

The Buckner Mansion, built in 1856 for Henry Sullivan Buckner, is one of THE largest and most beautiful 19th century homes in New Orleans. This imposing Greek revival mansion is the largest surviving home designed by Lewis E. Reynolds, one of the city's most talented architects of the mid-1800's, and is one of the finest examples of Southern architecture to be found anywhere.
The grandeur of this home begins with the imposing, six-foot high cast-iron fence (over a Quincy granite base) that's stylized with a honeysuckle blossom motif. Inside, the grand center hall extends from the carved mahogany front door to the rear entry. Richly detailed, the hall features crossette frames topped with Corinthian-style cornices surrounding the doors, and 3 brass chandeliers, originally designed for candles, have been electrified. The masterpiece of the home is the triple parlor to the left of the center hall. These 3 rooms are truly one as only columns supporting wide arches create a visual separation. A bay window projects from the center parlor, and each of the parlors has a two-tiered bronze dore chandelier designed in the Rococo Revival style. The 16' high ceiling is richly detailed with both ornamental plasterwork and massive medallions.

MICHAEL JACKSONS ABANDONED MANSION & MUSIC STUDIO!

Hidden in the lush hillsides of Montserrat, a tiny volcanic island in the Caribbean, lies the ghostly remains of AIR Studios Montserrat—a once-iconic recording studio built in 1979 by legendary Beatles producer George Martin. It was meant to be a tropical retreat where artists could escape the pressures of the industry and create music in peace. Over the years, it attracted some of the biggest names in music history—The Police, Elton John, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, and many more.

But one name—Michael Jackson—stands out not just for his fame, but because of the mystery surrounding his time there.

According to local lore, Michael Jackson came to AIR Studios in the mid-1980s, right after the massive success of Thriller. Some say he came seeking isolation and inspiration, others claim he was scouting new sounds for his next project. He didn’t come with a full production team. Instead, it’s said he arrived quietly, with just a few close collaborators, and spent days walking barefoot along the beaches and through the jungle paths behind the studio—writing, humming melodies, and soaking in the island’s energy.

There are no official studio records that confirm what he recorded, if anything at all.

Some believe that tracks from his “Bad” sessions were demoed here, while others think he just needed a break from the chaos of global fame. What’s clear is that his presence left a mark, both in the studio’s walls and in the island’s collective memory.

Then, in 1989, Hurricane Hugo struck, devastating the island and crippling the studio. Just a few years later, in the mid-1990s, a series of volcanic eruptions buried much of Montserrat in ash and lava, and AIR Studios was permanently shut down.

Today, the building still stands—silent and crumbling.
