*Tomorrow evening marks the start of Yom Kippur - The Day of Atonement & Forgiveness. In honour of that, we want to share with you something powerful on the theme of forgiveness.*
_'You are able to forgive the people who did this to you, to your family, to your neighbors?'. 'I had nothing left in Europe, and today Germany is one of the countries that is most supportive of us. They were very cruel. They killed more of my family than Hamas. I have no choice. The reality is such that we must reach an agreement. We have to find a way to live together'._
*85 years old Yocheved Lifsh*tz, one of the first hostages to be released after being kidnapped on October 7, speaks to Israeli Channel 12 about forgiveness and the necessity of finding a path to peace and co-existence (quote from 13:11)*
Q: For years, you and Oded [Yocheved’s husband still in captivity] were people of peace. You volunteered driving Palestinian patients from Gaza to hospitals in Israel. You believed in co-existence. Did anything change in your perspective after October 7?
*Yocheved: No. We have no choice. We have to find a solution. We must reach a political agreement.*
Q: With whom? With the people who kidnapped you? With the people who burned down Nir Oz?
Yocheved: How did the world forgive Germany?
Q: You are able to forgive the people who did this to you, to your family, to your neighbors?
Yocheved: I had nothing left in Europe, and today Germany is one of the countries that is most supportive of us. They were very cruel. They killed more of my family than the Hamas. I have no choice. The reality is such that we have to find an agreement. We have to find a way to live together.
