Today is 3rd my re-birthday, which celebrates my second lease on life thanks to @linterlicchio giving me a KIDNEY! Super thankful to Lori for her gift of life. Grateful my surgeons performed an excellent surgery. I’m also super thankful to @ejbunnell and @giganticproductions for taking a chance on our story making it a documentary, and sharing it with the world!

Stony Brook Medicine's Department of Kidney Transplant worked with Gigantic! Productions in filming a documentary on living organ donation and transplantation. The documentary is about one of our own kidney transplant recipients, Alana Duran, whose girlfriend surprised her by being tested to be a living donor. The documentary shows both girls' journey from before transplant/donation, during the actual transplant and donation to where they are today after recovery.
The documentary has been shown at various film festivals throughout the country and has won multiple awards. It will be shown at the Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival in Sag Harbor on Saturday, December 2nd. In addition it will be making it’s broadcast premiere on Fuse on November 18th at 10:00PM. According to LiveOn NY, the state ranks last in the percentage of residents registered as organ donors. Yesterday legislation was signed in NY to help increase organ donations.
