Encounters Magazine

Encounters Magazine Baruch College's longest running arts and literary publication; we publish the literary and artistic work of Baruch students for all to see and celebrate.

Encounters Magazine is Baruch College's long running arts and literary publication. Every semester for the past 22 years, Encounters has been a creative outlet for Baruch students publishing their diverse array of artistic endeavors. Even though our campus is known for its business savvy, our readers are always taken by surprise when they see just how talented the students of Baruch College can be when it comes to the arts. We accept ALL forms of creativity: short fiction, poetry, prose, photography, sketches, paintings, sculptures, screenplays, lyrics, scripts, nonfiction, essays- if it's creative, we want it in our magazine! We are always looking for new contributors, so whether you've been writing, drawing, or taking photos for years, only started yesterday- don't hesitate to send it over! We are YOUR advocates and want to give you the chance to express yourself in print! Feel free to email us: [email protected] or stop by our office (VC 3-291) for any questions, and to pick up a copy of our most recent magazine.

Mission: We publish the literary and artistic work of Baruch students for all to see and celebrate.

It was an amazing turnout filled with energetic and creative minds. We want to thank you all for celebrating Encounters Magazine’s success as well as being a part of the arts and literary community that’s continuing to grow in Baruch College. We also want to thank The Sidney Mishkin Gallery At Baruch for the beautiful venue and the live performances by Joshua Castillo and Trafton.

Congratulations to the Harmon winners: Danny Kaplan, Maria Jacome and Kenneth Souise! You can find their talented works in our website: https://encountersmagazine.org/harman

Head over to our website for the latest article on the commemoration of Dominican culture and blackness. This post written by Kat Hernandez (@__catwithak) discusses what it means to be black and Dominican in a society that often times dismisses the blending, or duality, of these identities, during February - a month of great importance and celebration for both the black and Dominican communities. With a focus on the history of the Dominican Republic and the plethora of influences that has shaped the country’s culture, this post explores what it means to be a member of two distinct, yet intertwined cultures.
