George Foreman: "We fought in 1974 - that was a long time ago. After 1981, we became the best of friends. By 1984, we loved each other. I am not closer to anyone else in this life than I am to Muhammad Ali. Why? We were forged by that first fight in Zaire, and our lives are indelibly linked by memories and photographs, as young men and old men."🕊️🥊👇

March 6, 1964 - A Name Changed That Would Live Forever 💯👑🥊

Cassius Clay, the brash, electrifying young heavyweight who had just shocked the world by dethroning Sonny Liston, shed the name given to his ancestors by sla— owners. He emerged as Muhammad Ali, a name that would echo through time, transcending boxing and becoming a symbol of strength, defiance, and unshakable conviction. Given to him by Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nat!on of Islam, this name marked his transformation into more than just a f!ghter, it made him an icon. At first, the world resisted. Broadcasters, journalists, and opponents refused to acknowledge it. But Ali, as always, stood his ground.

"Cassius Clay is a sla— name. I didn't choose it, and I don't want it. I am Muhammad Ali, a free man."

And with that, he became more than a champion in the ring; he became a champion of identity, a beacon of change, and one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

The world would never forget his name: Muhammad Ali. The greatest.

Thomas Hearns still hates being reminded of his brutal war with Marvin Hagler, admitting he “lost heart” after landing his best shots and seeing Hagler keep coming. Recalling their three-round classic, Hearns called his rival “a freak” with a granite chin, saying, “I hit him with everything, but it only takes one punch to change everything..”

Hearns: “I still don't like being reminded about Hagler, every time I hear about it I just want us to fight again. He had a hard head. It was one of the shortest yet most exciting fight most people had ever seen, but it was three rounds I just want to forget.

“In my opinion, both of us had drained ourselves to make the weight, but, as soon as the bell rung, we both just ran out of the corner. I was thinking to myself 'look at this fool! What's wrong with him? Something has made him mad.’

“I knew it wouldn't be long before someone was out of there. I punched him again and again as hard as I could, then just wondered how on earth he was taking these shots. I hit him with everything I had, it was unreal. He was a freak. He just kept coming, I am not a quitter but I think I lost heart. All I could think to do was keep popping him as he came forward. Then he got me. It only ever takes one punch to change things and that's what happened to me. There's always that danger.”

🚨 Magomed Ankalaev’s coach accuses Alex Pereira of greasing against Ankalaev:

“When Magomed pushed him to the fence near our corner, it seemed to me that Pereira was greased with something

“Ankalaev said afterwards that he smelled like he had some ointment on and was sticky

“The sweat didn’t flow off his body, it gelled up. That’s what it looks like, on his body too.”

"Lennox Lewis is a good fighter, a great champion, but our fight was more than just boxing. It was personal.

I had something to prove—not just to him, but to myself and to the world. I talked a lot of trash, said I was going to end him, but in the ring, he showed me what a true champion does.

He outsmarted me, outboxed me, and I had to respect him for that. The controversy and the buildup, that was all part of the game. I wanted to be feared again, but Lewis showed me that respect comes from skill, from heart—not just intimidation."

Charles Oliveira refuses to fight Ilia Topuria:

I will only fight [Topuria] if he wins the belt... this is my weight class, I hold a higher ranking, I've been a champion before.

This guy is all talk. If he wants to fight me he needs to come up, get the belt, put the belt on the line and I'll take him on."
