I need your BEST exterminator recommendations for spiders. Anonymous so my inbox doesn’t get flooded. But we have these whatever they are and wolf spiders and my daughter had a pretty nasty bite from one (heading to the doctors). They blend in with our carpets when they are on the ground so my daughter laid right on him when she sat down to play 😭 I need someone that works and is also fair priced, as this wasn’t in the budget last minute.

If you love the Party at the Point fireworks in West Point, clear your calendar this Saturday! The same pyrotechnic designer is bringing an even bigger show to Loy Blake Park, featuring the most 8 inch shells ever launched in Northern Utah. It’s easily the best show in the state.

Illumination’s events kick off with at 6 PM with music, mental health booths, food trucks, motivational speaker, and then fireworks! You won't want to miss it!

Looking for some bids for someone to re-tile around our fireplace and maybe repair and texture any drywall that needs it. We have all the tile (the same faux brick on the floor) we just need someone to finish it up for us. Must be licensed, insured, and bonus points if you have pictures of your work.

Or if you can recommend someone who's done similar work for you. I really want this done before October, ideally.

When we’re replacing sawn balusters, what material are we making them out of? I’m in a the snow belt of NY. I’m keeping as much of the original as we can, and they’re one inch thick (true 1”). Also taking suggestions for the material for new handrail for the steps. I don’t have any original of that.

We have a Queen Anne built i 1899. It had some water damage in the plaster ceiling from the bathroom above, years before we bought her that had been repaired. Recently a big chunk fell into the dining room. We have removed the plaster from entire ceiling and are looking for a contractor. One said he would sheet rock over the lathe for stability. I'm wondering what opinions are about it: install over lathe? Or remove all the lathe first? It has a coved ceiling, and none of them have ever done this, either. Suggestions?

Edit: well, we’ve learned a lot posting here!! Thank you for all your insight and comments. I will be doing some more research on her. We were told it was 1950s from the listing of the home, which is where I got that timeframe from.

Hi all. May I ask what type of home this is? Built in 1958 we believe. Thank you in advance! This is in a historical downtown area in a south Chicago suburb.

Closing was delayed to this Friday on our 1912 home. One project we want to address is removing the ceramic tile a previous owner laid in the foyer. Since this area is raised adjacent to the adjacent hardwood flooring, I suspect they (Grrrrrr!) tiled over hardwood.

What is the best way to remove the tiles to see if the suspected hardwood beneath is salvageable?

Or is re-tiling with something more appealing a better option?
