I created this page a long time ago to focus on Puerto Rico, Puerto Ricans, and it is definitely for sharing positive news - not just problems.

Abolition of Slavery in Puerto Rico.
"Leaders of the Puerto Rican abolitionist movement, including José Julián Acosta, Francisco Mariano Quiñones, Julio L. de Vizcarrondo, Ramón Emeterio Betances and Segundo Ruiz Belvis, waged a long struggle to end slavery on the island. On March 22, 1873, the Spanish National Assembly finally abolished slavery in Puerto Rico. The owners were compensated with 35 million pesetas per slave, and slaves were required to continue working for three more years." www.loc.gov/rr/hispanic/1898/slaves.html

I am really grateful for Shaun Cassidy's invitation to be part of this exciting group. We are living in a very volatile time and need to focus on what we can contribute toward the betterment of humanity as social entrepreneurs.
In our work together, we will discuss difficult topics, using active and constructive responding and empathetic listening. As we build relationships with one another, I know everyone will be open to understanding how some decisions can be based on particular biases. While we will never be perfect, in our collaboration, we will honor and respect each person's perspectives, adversities, and triumphs. Everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student. Let's respect the Black Lives Matter movement, not only by using hashtags, but by being available and present to listen if a Black person (African-American, AfroPuerto, AfroMexican, Nigerian-American, etc) needs to talk. We are building a beautiful cocoon of mutual respect and love for humankind.
We will also discuss ways to assist with economies that are floundering, such as that of my home-home: .

What I want for myself I also want for you.
